Finnish man stops traffic on a busy street in China using Tai Chi

There are many eccentric people around. Not long ago, a Chinese man practiced his yoga in the middle of a busy street causing the city centre to a near gridlock. This time it's a Finnish guy that stops busy traffic using Tai Chi.

A Finnish foreign language teacher jumps onto the road and uses tai chi to force cars to stop at a zebra crossing for pedestrians. The man – dubbed "foreign uncle" – has been working as a language teacher in Fuzhou, Fujian province for 11 years and became frustrated with Chinese drivers failing to stop.

Ma Ruinan, his Chinese name, has a strong interest in the country’s culture and decided to use taichi when crossing the road, like in this photo taken on Dec 12, 2011. "Tai chi is so grace and deliberate," he said. "But why are Chinese drivers always in a hurry? Isn’t common sense for cars to stop for pedestrians?"

Anybody wants to try silat in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia?

Naked woman disrupts traffic by doing yoga on top of a cab in protest against Afghanistan war

Stripping off and clambering on top of a Black Cab in front of the Houses of Parliament is not the usual way to practice yoga.

But that’s exactly what one demonstrator did, in a five-minute-long peaceful protest against the war in Afghanistan.

The nude woman, thought to be in her 30s, adapted the classic auspicious pose – legs crossed – on the roof of the vehicle while the taxi driver tried unsuccessfully to persuade her to get down.

She then stood, making the ‘peace’ sign with her fingers, while shouting, ‘Troops out of Afghanistan’, in Westminster Square, London, yesterday.

Astonished tourists looked on and took photos while traffic ground to a halt as police officers arrived and managed to remove the naked protestor, covering her modesty with a sheet.

Carl Backland, 50, who photographed the incident, said: 'I was on my way home from work when I spotted this woman stripping off.

'Then she jumped on the top of the cab when it stopped at the lights.

'The cab driver wasn't very pleased to say the least. There were loads of tourists around they couldn't believe it.

‘They were all taking pictures on their mobile phones. It stopped the traffic but I thought the police handed it well.

'They let her finish the yoga session and then sort of gently cajoled her into coming down.'

Scottish woman woke up with Italian accent.

How would it be if you are a Malay and one day you woke up in a Chinese accent or a you a Chinese with a Indian accent? Foreign Accent Syndrome sounds like the title of the next Will Ferrell movie, but it's actually a real medical condition.

Debbie McCann
It's why Debbie McCann, of Glasgow, Scotland, woke up with an Italian accent after she suffered a stroke.
"When my voice came back, I sounded Chinese. I couldn't believe it. Now people say I sound more like I'm from Italy, yet I've never been to either of those countries," the 48-year-old grandmother told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
Foreign Accent Syndrome is so rare, it's known to affect just 60 people in the world and usually occurs as a result of a brain injury, stroke or migraine.
McCann said she is embarrassed to speak to people and often gets asked where she's from even though Glasgow is her hometown.
A medical expert told the paper there is no cure for Foreign Accent Syndrome. Sometimes it just disappears; others are afflicted with it for life.

Students posing nude for charity calendar leaked

A British university's charity calendar has evoked controversy after nude photographs of the women students posing for it were found posted on pornographic sites.
Pictures of students from the University of Portsmouth's calendar have ended up on porn websites. The photographs have also been posted on forums where they have been viewed and commented on thousands of times, the Daily Mail reported.

The pictures which went into the calendar were edited to preserve the girls' modesty. But the ones uploaded online are unedited. The calendar features young women in raunchy poses as well as many of the university's male students. Over 150 women and 250 men volunteered for last year's issue.

The calendar, which has raised 10,000 pounds for various charities since 2006, is set to be pulled following complaints of the Hampshire university's women's officer Becky Gardner.

Gardner, 20, claimed to have spoken to 20 women who were devastated after watching their unedited pictures online. "When the girls are told they are doing something for charity this is not the sort of thing you expect to happen. This could be very damaging for their future careers - what if employers happen to stumble across the photos?

"A very serious line has been crossed and the calendar should not continue." Student Rachael Lloyd, 21, who was on the front of the 2011 issue, said: "My first shock was seeing my photo on the front - we were not told where it was going to end up or what it would look like.

"I just did it for charity. No one told me of the risks. Now I am worrying what my future employers will think." Makers of the calendar believe a university student may be responsible for posting the pictures online.

Pirates of Carribean Black Pearl pirate ship stopped by police on Autobahn

Four Britons driving a car transformed into a pirate ship were stopped by German police as they drove through Europe on their way to a competition. The motley bunch dressed head-to-toe in pirate attire were on their way to an iconic vehicle contest.

The amateur ship - aptly named Black Pearl after Pirates of the Carribean's star Jack Sparrow's beloved boat - troubled motorway authorities near Holzkirchen in Germany.

Police couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the British registered J-plate banger decked out in wooden cladding - complete with a wheel, mast and iconic flag - sailing amongst traffic. It is believed the four-wheeled pirate ship was heading towards Munich when it was spotted and stopped.

The pirate wannabees - who have not been identified by police – were sent on their way after testing negative for alcohol and supplying necessary documentation.

A police spokesman said: ‘They had a road safety certificate for all of the modifications including the mast and the galley and so we wished them a safe voyage and allowed them to continue on their way.’

Sleeping beauty sleeps up to 2 months at a stretch.

Lily Clarke, a 21 years old British girl, suffers a strange and rare syndrome that makes her can sleeps for two months like a sleeping beauty.
She is suffering a Kleine-Levin Syndrome. She had missed the university exams, Christmas and New Year. And even she missed her birthday party, when she was 18 after falling asleep a few days earlier.
Her mother, Adele, 47 years old, said it started in 2007 when they had meal after playing ice skating.
“Before food was served, Lily had fallen asleep in her chair. We could not wake her and had to take her out of the restaurant”.
Lily could slept about 23 hours a day. But now Lily can sleep up to two months at a time every seven months. “She missed most crucial periods in her life,” said Adele.
There is no known cure for the syndrome but medics say it usually affects young people - so Lily may grow out of it.

Adele is now setting up a group that supports people with Kleine-Levin Syndrome in http://www.kls-support.org.uk/.

Now I'm going to bed but I'll definitely be up tomorrow to post another entry!

Underwear that hides your beer belly

Spanx, the brand best known for its women's "tummy tightening" pants, has launched a new range in the UK - for men.

The men's undergarments are designed to "firm and flatten", keeping beer bellies in check, according to the company.

The American founder of Spanx, Sara Blakely, said: "We applied our 10 years of knowledge and expertise in compression fabrics and transforming the body to this first-of-its-kind collection for men."

Department store Selfridges, which is selling the £55 Cotton Compression Undershirt, £69 Zoned Performance Undershirt and Cotton Comfort briefs (£37) and boxer briefs (£47), said there was already an extensive waiting list.

Ms Blakely added: "The men in my life, and in Hollywood, have been asking me to make Spanx for men for years, so I was inspired to create comfortable and powerful undershirts that provide instant gratification without gimmicks.

"It's your favourite T-shirt without your least favourite part... love handles."

The cotton undershirt promises to "comfortably firm the chest, flatten the stomach, improve posture and eliminate bulk under clothes", while the £69 version claims to provide "maximum shaping with instant transformation".

And Spanx said of the briefs: "There's no chance of a sagging bum with this range as the long-lasting high-gauge Cotton Compression fabric contours to the body for a close fit."

Women have been wearing deceiving accessories like padded bras and body-sculpting undergarments for years, and it’s time boys started playing dirty as well.

Boy killed ex-girlfriend for a free breakfast

A schoolboy in Britain faces a life term in jail for murdering his ex-girlfriend after a friend promised him free breakfast if he did away with her.

The brutality of the crime moved the Judge, who in an unprecedented step allowed Joshua Davies, 16, to be named despite being a juvenile, saying it was in public interest to expose the brute.

The jury at Swansea Crown Court heard how Davies, a year ago lured Rebecca Aylward, 15, to a secluded wood and then used a rock, the size of a rugby ball to smash her skull with at least six brutal blows.

He allegedly bragged about the killing, telling friends “Do you know how hard it is to break someone’s neck? She was facing away from me and I thought ‘This is it, I’m going to go for it. I’m going to break her neck’. She was screaming so I picked up a rock and started to hit her. The worst part was feeling and seeing her skull give way.”

Afterwards, the teen tried to cover his tracks by posting status updates reading “I’m just chilling with two friends”, and later “I enjoyed a rather good day with a lovely breakfast”.

The schoolboy, just 15 when he turned killer, wept as he was remanded in custody by Justice Lloyd Jones to be sentenced later but was told to expect an "indefinite" term.

The jury convicted him of murder by a majority verdict after hearing that Davies texted a friend to ask, "What would you do if I actually did kill her?"

His friend mistook it for the latest in a long line of jokes about murdering Rebecca and replied, "Oh, I would buy you breakfast."

The girl's body was found face down in the rain, after the day of the murder after one of Davies's friends contacted police and led them to the scene.
