23 year old Indian woman raped and murdered

It was disheartening to read about the rape and murder of a 23 year old Indian woman, Damini, in New Delhi, India.

For those who doesn't know the story, this poor lady and her boyfriend was beaten with iron rods and raped for an hour in a bus by the bus driver and his friends after throwing her boyfriend out of the bus. After raping her, she was brutally beaten and they shoved an iron rod up her vagina till it tore and injured her intestines. They then threw her our of the bus naked and bleeding. Her injuries was so severe that she was flew to Singapore to receive treatment in ICU. She did not survive the ordeal and she died in Singapore hospital. Her body was flew back to New Delhi and cremated in a private ceremony.

I cannot imagine the pain she has to go through during the attack which made worst by this merciless barbaric animals left her to die by the road. New Delhi has the highest sex crime rate among India's major cities. This men has no respect or regards for women. I support the protest of the Indians that is currently in New Delhi as it is time for the government to step up and protect the women's rights. There are too many rape cases that has gone unreported and many offenders are still at large. The 6 rapists and murderers are ought to be whipped and put to death. This will deter future rapists and they will think twice or even trice before committing to this hideous crime. If the Indian government is not taking any proactive solution to this injustice, it is time for Indian citizens to rise up as one voice during their 2014 election and vote for a change.

6000 fools gather at a hilltop

April Fool's Day is a day when people play prank and practical jokes on each other. It can be hilarious at the other person's expense but of course there is a boundary where the pranks shouldn't go overboard. A radio station in India, has gone overboard with their pranks causing a whole lot of inconvenience to people.

Recently a report highlighted that more than 6,000 people fell for an April Fool prank by a radio station in the south Indian city of Bangalore when they gathered for the supposed arrival of Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif to inaugurate its studio at a hilltop.

According to Tamil Nesan, the prank created such a buzz that people travelled 60km to the scenic Nandi Hills station to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood actresses.

The only beneficiary was the horticulture department, which raked in Rs70,000 (RM4,670) in three hours from entry and parking fees for the “star-studded” event.

The crowd gathered at the hill as early as 3am, waiting for the gates to open at 6am.

World's smallest woman turns into Indian politician

A woman barely 2ft tall is proving that height is no obstacle by becoming a politician. Tiny 18-year-old, Jyoti Amge, is thought to be the smallest woman in the world.

At only 62.8 centimetres tall, she was officially recognised as the world’s smallest woman on her 18th birthday by Guinness World Records in December 2011.

Despite having a condition called Achondroplasia, which prevents her growing after her first birthday, the tiny teenager has started campaigning for political party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), in the local elections in Mumbai, India.

Jyoti, who dreams of one day launching a Bollywood movie career, is now the world’s smallest election campaigner.

She is shown here being lifted above the crowds by 7ft 1ins tall look-alike of the wrestler, ‘Great Khali’.

She wore a matching purple skirt and jacket and beamed with smiles, drawing cheers from her fellow campaigners.

'Oldest marathon runner' competes in Hong Kong

When I joined the Standard Chartered Marathon and Energizer Night Run, I did 10km for both marathons and I felt it was a challenge for me. Personally I needed to train my stamina for the run. I salute this century old man for his feat to complete the run!
A 100-year-old British Indian man who claims to be the world's oldest marathoner was all smiles after completing a 10km run at the Hong Kong marathon on Sunday.

Born in 1911 and affectionately nicknamed the Turbaned Torpedo, Fauja Singh finished the race in just over one hour and 34 minutes, organisers told AFP, raising HK$200,000 (S$32,000) for the charity Seeing Is Believing.

'The weather was very pleasant, I enjoyed the race very much,' he was quoted by local media as saying, as he crossed the finishing line, arms in the air.

The centenarian attributed his physical fitness to his healthy lifestyle, including abstaining from smoking and alcohol and to following a vegetarian diet, according to local reports.

Leopard scalped man in a vicious attack

Bestgore.com recently highlighted an Indian man got scalped by a leopard.

Four people were injured in an animal attack in the city of Guwahati in north-eastern India after a full grown leopard strayed into city’s residential area on January 7, 2012. Before the leopard was tranquilized, the cat ran into a house on Nabagraha Road in busy neighborhood of Silphukhuri where it struck a man in the head, slicing part of his scalp right off.

Tranquilized animal was taken to the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati for observation. Poor cat probably suffers from the same issues most animals in fast growing countries like India are faced with – shrinking and fragmented habitat. Leopards don’t feed on insects which can be found by the hundreds per square meter in the jungle. Big cats need dozens of sguare miles of undisturbed wilderness just to find enough small game to feed on. But with the encroachment of filthy humans, their hunting grounds are vanishing and what’s a hungry cat to do?

At least the Indians didn’t shoot this cat dead despite his attack in the residential area. I fear his fate is sealed and he’ll spend the rest of his life behind bars of a tiny cage while snotty fat kids taunt it with their little cameras and obnoxious screaming. When I see kids, I have little doubt that we’ve evolved from monkeys.

Bridge risk collapsing due to human

The Howrah Bridge in the Indian city of Kolkata is at risk of collapsing because the steel at its base is being corroded by human saliva.

Pedestrians who have been chewing betel leaf, areca nut and slaked lime have been spitting on the bridge's steel hangers, causing them to weaken.

The red stains left by the paan mixture - a mild stimulant chewed throughout India - are caked around the metal casings of the bridge.

Authorities say the paan-laced spit has reduced the thickness of the bridge's hangers from six millimetres to three millimetres.

In an attempt to save the bridge, port engineers have come up with the idea of covering the steel with fibreglass.

Several years ago authorities were forced to begin regular clean up of bird droppings which were also corroding the bridge.

It has also been damaged before from a number of car and boat accidents.

The cantilever suspension bridge opened in 1943 and spans more than 450 metres across the Hooghly River.

It is thought to be the busiest of its kind in the world, with more than 100,000 vehicles crossing a day and more than 150,000 pedestrians pounding its walkways daily.

Indian man wins Indian version of TV game show "Who wants to be a millionaire".

Have you watched the Oscar winning film, Slumdog Millionaire? It was once a fictional show but it has come into reality for an Indian man.

An office worker who earns $120 a month wins a $1 million on the Indian TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
A man from one of India's poorest states has won an unprecendented $1 million jackpot in the Indian version of the TV game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire".

Office worker Sushil Kumar from Bihar, is the first contestant to win the top prize on the popular TV show, Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Kumar, who earns 6,000 rupees ($120) per month says he used to watch the show at a neighbour's house because his family was too poor to afford a television set, has not made any grand plans on spending his prize.
"I'm going to repair my house, fulfil a few basic needs and then move to Delhi to study for the civil service exams," he told the Reuters news agency.

"Our house has almost broken down and we have a lot of loans that have to be repaid, If it hadn't been for this money, I would have got old before I sorted out my life," said Kumar.

"Slumdog Millionaire", shot in the slums of Mumbai, tells the story of a call centre teaboy who wins the TV game show against all odds.

Indian drunkard sells daughter to feed his booze

Alcoholism is no laughing matter; people go to the bizarre depths just to satisfy their urge to drink. For one man in India, turning tricks on the street apparently wasn’t good enough for him. He tried to auction off his six-year-old daughter for booze money.

Krishnaiah, 40, was refused a purchase of $21 worth of booze at a store in Kadapa due to already having racked up a huge tab.

Rejected and clearly in need of alcohol, the laborer, known in town as a drunk, went to a nearby town and placed his daughter on the auction block.

The daughter was auctioned openly, and one man, Mohd Bash, walked away with the poor girl for an astounding $21, or 1,000 rupees. How convenient.

Bash, afraid of what would happen if the police found out, ditched the girl and left.

What happened to Krishnaiah? Well, the police arrived and he was beaten up, then arrested. The fate of the girl isn’t known, but with luck she won’t be sold again.

7 year old Indian girl weeps stone

Doctors in India were baffled when they discovered that a 7-year-old girl wept stones, and are unable to determine the cause of the phenomenon.

According to local newspaper Tamil Nesan, Kura Nitya from a village near Hyderabad has been discharging stones from her right eye for the past 15 days.

She has been weeping about 12 to 25 stones a day.

Her parents have approached several ophthalmologists, who were unable to diagnose what was causing the problem.

Her grandfather Gopal Reddy said that the stones began popping out on October 26.

“Initially, we thought it was some divine power and prayed to God for this phenomenon to stop,” the Star Online quoted Reddy as saying.

They kept the stones for medical tests.

Nitya said the lower portion of her right eye swelled minutes before the stones painlessly popped out.

Ophthalmologist Dr Kalyan Chakaravarthy said Nitya was medically fit and there was no logical reason for the phenomenon.

Imagine if some where in the other parts of the world, a boy or girl weeps precious stones. Wow! That'll be truly amazing!

Paris Hilton gives USD100 to beggar

Paris Hilton gave a $100 bill to a woman begging with a baby in her arms on the streets of Mumbai, the Indian newspaper Mid Day reported yesterday.

Hilton, 30, is visiting India to launch a new line of handbags and her stores in collaboration with Brand Concepts Pvt Ltd. 

As her car sped through the city, the socialite reportedly spotted the woman begging on the side of the road.The car slowed down and Hilton handed the $100 bill through the window.

The woman, having never seen a $100 bill before, reportedly asked a photographer at the scene for change. 

Paris Hilton later tweeted about the incident saying, "India is beautiful, but some parts are very poverty stricken. Broke my heart to see babies sleeping on the streets."

Young Indian girl stood up against child marriages

Her fate looked sealed when her family began organizing the nuptial celebrations. But the bride-to-be, a shy schoolgirl from a remote village in western India, wasn't ready to say "I do."

In a region where patriarchy and age-old customs dictate a woman's life from birth to death, 15-year-old Sapna Meena in April joined a small but growing number of girls who are standing up against the widespread practice of child marriage in India.

"My family was in the midst of planning my wedding," recalled Sapna, her black hair pinned in a bun and a gold stud in her nose, as she sat on a step outside her home in Badakakahera village in Rajasthan state.

"My grandfather had decided that while he was alive he wanted to see that I get married and settled. I was scared to say anything against it at first.

"I went to my mother and told her I wanted to study more and get a job, and only after that would I get married," added the girl, who is from a subsistence farming community that ekes out a living by growing crops like wheat and maize.

But Sapna didn't stop there. She went to local officials in the city of Bhilwara -- some three hours by bus -- to seek advice and press home the point to her family that the legal age for marriage in India is 18.

The authorities played a mediating role and her family suspended the wedding plans. What's more, Sapna was awarded a certificate of gallantry by the government for being an "agent of change" in her community.

Gender rights activists say Sapna is proof that, through education and exposure to the modern world, girls are beginning to take decisions over their own lives and are helping to lift the curse of early marriage that has plagued India for centuries.

Jilted girlfriend set herself ablaze at boyfriend's house

A 24-year-old woman suffered 80% burns after she set herself on fire at her boyfriend's doorstep at Kandivli on Wednesday. Zarina Shaikh, the victim, was fed up with her boyfriend constantly delaying their wedding plan. She is fighting for her life at V N Desai Hospital.

Police officials said Zarina was in a relationship with Yasin Yusuf Shaikh (25), who stays at Khajuria Tank Road in Kandivli (west). "Zarina had learnt that Yasin had tied the knot with another woman. She did not mind it as long as he married her as well. But Yasin kept postponing their wedding plan, claiming that he was going through a financial crunch," an investigating police official said.

The Kandivli police are awaiting the opinion of the magistrate court before lodging a case of 'attempt to commit suicide' against Zarina. "We have recorded the statements of Zarina and Yasin," the official said.

Zarina, a resident of Asha Nagar in Santa Cruz (east), is unemployed at present. Yasin works with an insurance firm and is a part-time MBA student. The two got acquainted in 2007 when they used to work together. Later, they changed jobs. Eventually, they joined different departments of the same insurance firm, where they grew close.

"For the past two years, Zarina and Yasin have been in a relationship. When Yasin told her that he planned to get engaged to another woman, the two had a fight. Later, Yasin even revealed to her that he had tied the knot with another woman at his hometown in UP. Zarina did not mind as long as he was willing to marry her as well. Yasin promised he would, but kept postponing the date. A month ago, he fetched his wife from UP to live with him at Kandivli," the official said.

Around 11pm on Tuesday, Zarina called up Yasin but he did not answer. When she kept trying repeatedly, he responded and only said that he was out with friends.

An enraged Zarina landed up at Yasin's doorstep on Wednesday at 8am, while he was asleep. She brought a can of kerosene with her. When Yasin's wife opened the door, Zarina stepped inside and set herself ablaze. Yasin's wife wasn't unaware of Zarina's relationship with her husband till the incident. The shocked woman woke up her husband, who rushed Zarina to the Suchak Hospital.

Zarina was moved to Cooper Hospital and then to V N Desai Hospital. Doctors informed the cops around 11am.

According to the police, Zarina Shaikh told her boyfriend Yasin Shaikh that she was okay with him marrying another woman, as long as he married her too. But when Yunus brought his wife to Mumbai, Zarina landed up at his home and set herself on fire.

Is it really necessary to commit suicide when one get spurned by their lover? Breaking up or broken relationship is part and puzzle of life. She should have moved on and find someone better. Like the saying goes, there are many fishes out there. No point dying for someone who doesn't even appreciate or love you because the person's heart is far away. Think of your family and friends who will be in anguish if you took your own life away.

Boy has 34 fingers and toes

Ten fingers. Ten toes. And another 14 tossed in for good measure. A one-year old boy in India is now a record holder as Guinness has recognized his 34 fingers and toes as the most belonging to anyone in the world

Young Akshat Saxena, from Uttar Pradesh in northern India, has a condition known as polydactylism, a congenital anomaly that litterally means “many fingers.” In the case of Akshat, it involves his fingers and toes.

Upon seeing her child, the boy’s mother Amrita was “shocked and surprised.” The doctor revealed that her son had broken the world record, beating out a Chinese boy with a combined 31 digits. This was confirmed when they hopped online and registered the data.

Doctors have performed a number of surgeries to remove the extra digits, though a distinct lack of thumbs have required them to construct them from scratch out of the removed fingers.

Vampire man drinks wife's blood

Deepa Ahirwar, a 22-year old woman, who lives in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, was married to Mahesh Ahirwar, an agricultural laborer in 2007 in a Shikarpura village. He started drinking her blood a few months later, claiming it made him strong. Her husband would use a syringe to draw blood from her arms, then empty it in a glass and drink it. For three years he did this on a regular basis, threatening her of dire consequences if she revealed this to anyone.

Deepa’s husband even did it while she was pregnant, though she didn’t start protesting until after she gave birth to her son. Her health started deteriorating for she started to feel nausea after repeated blood removal.  Any attempt to resist will result her being violently attack by her husband.
Deepa quietly ran to her parents’ house along with her infant to complain about her husband.

Her father then took her to the Patera police station to lodge a complaint. But the police refused to register a case saying it was not under their jurisdiction.

So they moved to Hindoriya police station (the area where her husband lived).

But even Hindoriya refused to register a case against Mahesh, who was by then absconding. However, when the local residents of Shikarpura learnt of Mahesh’s gross habit, they decided to take up the cause.

Due to their efforts, an FIR has been lodged at the Hindoriya police station stating that Deepa was physically tormented by her husband.

An Indian girl commit suicide to donate organs to family

A twelve-year-old Indian girl ended her own life in an attempt to donate organs to her father and brother, but was cremated before her suicide note detailing her wishes was found.

Mumpy Sarkar, from a village in West Bengal, India, took her life June 27 in the hope of providing organs for her father and brother. Both of her brother’s kidneys were not fully functioning with one damaged and the other growing weaker while her father was slowly losing his eyesight. Her father is a day laborer in an agricultural district and the family was unable to afford medical treatment, The Times of India said.

The pre-teen told her older sister about her plan and urged her to join her for the "cause," but her sister "laughed it off" and left for school. Mumpy poisoned herself with the pesticide Thiodan, leaving behind a suicide note explaining her wishes. However, the note was only discovered the day after the girl was cremated.

Child sex change craze in India

Indian parents' preference for sons has led to inhumane sex change operations on young girls, reports the Telegraph. In a country that has preference for sons over daughters, hundreds of daughters age 1 to 5 are reported being "converted" into boys through a sex-change procedure known as genitoplasty, which involves fashioning a penis out of female sex organs, then pumping the child full of male hormones. This "shocking, unprecedented trend, catering to the fetish for a son," is drawing parents from all over the nation to the central Indian city of Indore.

Female infanticide is not uncommon in India as daughters are often seen as a great financial burden to the family because of their education and especially marriage where the girls' parents have to pay huge amount of dowries to the bridegrooms' families. Sometimes the dowries can run up to $100,000 or more. Hence it is not surprising to see girls' parents in India turn to doctors to operate on their daughters and change their sex.

The sex change operations, however, are not without complications and pose the danger of turning the girls into freaks or misfits in the society. These girls, even if they survive the trauma of the operation, suffer from infertility and impotency as the implanted organs are not capable of producing hormones.

Indore's genitoplasty experts reveal that each clinic and hospital in Indore has transformed 200 to 300 girls into 'boys' so far. Relatively inexpensive cost - about $3,300 - and vague laws regarding such practices have lured greedy parents even more. Indore’s success stories on the sex change have now attracted parents from other cities such as Delhi and Mumbai.

India already faces a gender imbalance, with 7 million more boys than girls younger than 6, and women's and children's rights campaigners have targeted such practices as a sign of India's growing 'social madness.'

"The more educated and rich you are, the more there is killing of girls. People don't want to share their property or invest in girls' education or pay dowries. It is the greedy middle classes running after money," said Ranjana Kumari, India's leading campaigner against female feticide.

Parents have the choice to choose whether they would want a child or not. Some parents even go to the extend to choose the gender of their children through in vitro fertilization (IVF). Parents ought to remember that their children cannot choose their parents and their own gender. In fact, they cannot even choose whether they want to come into this world or not. It's the parents that made the choice for them and trying to "play God" by pre-destine your children's fate is morally wrong.

Can we change racial stigma?

Yesterday I was on my way driving home after dinner and I met with an Indian hooligan on a motorcycle bearing the number plat BGU 5221. The Indian motorcyclist beat the red light and we met at the T-junction. He got irked at me as I had the right of the road and when we reached another traffic light, he stopped by my side and started to use vulgarities and kicked my car. I wound down my car window slightly and asked why did he kick my car and he got even angrier. To cut the story short, he eventually rode off swearing at me.

Once I read an article about how people generally labelled Malaysian Indians as gangsters especially those are of dark skin. I bet those who mentioned that are those who personally had a awful experienced them. I’m not trying to be racial or racist but it is because of a few bad apples it spoils the whole basket. I believe whatever race or culture we are, the way we carry ourselves are important. When there is a too many bad encounters with a certain race, people will remember your race for the bad doing rather than the individual itself. People will start to think that this particular race carries bad culture and the people from that race are labelled negatively. Before we react or we do anything, we need to think of the impact it will cause to ourselves and our society. We are responsible for our act and not the race itself. It is never easy to erase the stigma and negative perception but to change it, it always starts from an individual and carried by another individual.

I still believe and want to believe that there are good Samaritans out there be it Malay, Chinese or Indian. For the the readers or anyone who knows the Indian guy on the motorcycle bearing the number plate BGU 5221, tell him not be the rotten apple and in the end spoils the whole basket. You may think you are a HERO but you a ZERO if you bring shame to yourself, family and race.

KUALA LUMPUR 8 Mei - Kegiatan menyimbah sejenis cecair dipercayai asid jenis 'thinner' dan 'alkali' kini dikatakan semakin berleluasa berlaku di ibu negara, dipercayai didalangi dua lelaki bermotosikal.

Penjenayah yang sehingga kini belum diberkas dikatakan mencari mangsa terdiri daripada wanita yang kebanyakannya berketurunan Melayu di sekitar Dang Wangi, Sentul dan Brickfields.

Polis bagaimanapun sehingga kini belum mengenal pasti motif perbuatan jenayah suspek berkenaan.

Difahamkan, kedua-dua suspek, masing-masing bertubuh gempal dan kurus berusia 20 hingga 30 tahun sering menukar jenis motosikal, akan menghampiri mangsa sebelum melemparkan cecair ke arah muka dan tubuh mereka.

Dalam kejadian terbaru semalam, seorang wanita dan anak perempuannya yang berusia setahun cedera di muka setelah disimbah sejenis cecair di Persiaran Titiwangsa.

Mangsa berusia 30 tahun yang merupakan kakitangan Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia disimbah asid dalam kejadian pukul 3 petang di hadapan rumah mereka.

Kelmarin, dua wanita berusia lingkungan 20-an yang sedang berjalan kaki di Jalan Pudu Lama turut disimbah sejenis cecair kira-kira pukul 9 malam.

Kira-kira sejam kemudian, seorang wanita turut cedera di muka selepas disimbah sejenis cecair dipercayai cuka getah di tempat letak kereta berhampiran sebuah pusat beli-belah di Jalan Putra.

Timbalan Ketua Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Kuala Lumpur, Asisten Komisioner Khairi Ahrasa berkata, dalam tempoh dua hari lalu, empat laporan polis diterima membabitkan lima orang mangsa.

Katanya, daripada lima mangsa itu, seorang daripada mereka berketurunan India.

"Kita minta orang ramai, khususnya wanita supaya bertenang dan memberi kerjasama kepada polis untuk mengesan penjenayah itu yang sudah dikenal pasti identiti mereka.

"Polis setakat ini mengesan dua suspek berketurunan India ini menaiki motosikal atau menunggu mangsa di laluan yang sunyi sebelum menyimbah mereka menggunakan botol plastik yang sudah dipotong berisi cecair itu," katanya ketika dihubungi di sini hari ini.

Menurut Khairi, orang ramai yang menyaksikan kejadian itu juga diminta mengenali wajah suspek, kenderaan dan nombor pendaftaran mereka serta pakaian dan memaklumkan segera kepada Rakan Cop atau Bilik Kawalan Polis Kuala Lumpur di talian 03-21159999.

Dalam pada itu, Ketua Polis Daerah Brickfields, Asisten Komisioner Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid memberitahu, sebanyak 10 kes simbah cecair dipercayai asid dilaporkan berlaku di daerah ini sehingga Mac lalu.

"Dalam kejadian terakhir pada Mac lalu, tiga wanita iaitu seorang guru dan dua orang awam dilaporkan telah disimbah cecair itu di pekan Brickfields.

"Setakat ini, tiada mangsa dapat mengecam suspek yang menaiki sebuah motosikal kerana kejadian berlaku begitu pantas," jelasnya.

Bagaimanapun menurutnya, usaha untuk mengesan suspek yang terlibat masih diteruskan kerana bimbang suspek kembali melakukan jenayah sama selepas ini. Utusan Malaysia
