Crazy driver bulldoze through crowded traffic to avoid police

A video of a car bulldozing its way through a roadblock has gone viral in a popular Chinese video site, youku. On 30 December 2011, in the attempt to escape police roadblock, a driver rammed his car through the crowded street, hitting 13 vehicles including a motorcyclist.

The run-away car was badly damaged and driver was later subdued by the police. You can watch the video here.

Woman defiantly drove her car from being towed away

A TV station in Liaoning Province that showed on the evening news what happened when the police wanted to tow a Buick Excelle. The Buick’s driver, a resolute woman, had different ideas and she is determined to get away. The woman had an arguement with the police and demanded that her car to be released.

The Buick was already hitched, but on the wrong end. Using the fact that the Excelle is a front-wheel-drive, the woman could liberate it from the claws of the tow truck, and drive away. What is interesting to watch is how the police in the alleged police state reacts.

Don't worry, the police will know how to get her. You can watch the video here.

Over $3million worth of supercars accident pile up

A Sunday drive has ended in a $3.5 million nightmare, with eight Ferraris, three Mercedes-Benzes and a Lamborghini involved in a 14-car pile-up in Japan.

The epic accident occurred yesterday at around 10:15am on the Chugoku Expressway in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Up to 10 people were reportedly taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Two Ferrari 355s, two Ferrari 360s, two Ferrari 430s (one of which was a rare Scuderia variant), and a Ferrari 512 were totalled in what has been described as one of the most expensive pileups in history.

Sitting rather innocently in the middle of it all was a Toyota Prius, which, by the looks of it, suffered the least damage of all the cars involved. A Nissan GT-R and Lamborghini Diablo were less fortunate.

The official cause of the accident is yet to be determined, however it’s understood a Ferrari clipped the median strip while travelling at around 140km/h. This set off a chain reaction of crashes, spanning some 400 metres down the highway.

The total price of the cars involved is beyond $3 million.

Nude German woman buys cigarrettes at a gas station

A gas station in Dömitz, Germany got some publicity in the German tabloids after a woman strolled in to buy cigarettes. Now, that in itself is not newsworthy.

What is, however, is that the blond, tattooed woman was buck-freaking-naked, save for a pair of gold stiletto heels and a bracelet. After casually going about her business inside the station's convenience store, she walked back out, climbed into the passenger seat of a waiting Ferrari F430, and drove off.

The employee inside the shop was unfazed, telling reporters, "I wasn't surprised. She's come in naked before. She's a very nice woman." Her birthday-suit shopping trip was caught on camera by another customer at the filling station, and those pictures made it into the German tabs, where nudity is not an obstacle. This kind of stuff never happens around us when we run into the Mobil for a cup of coffee.

Woman bedecked car with notices to find suitor

In Changsha, the provincial capital of Hunan in south-central China, a Porsche recently gave chase to a Citroen, starting from the city's Xiaoshan South Road through Yuhuating, eventually forcing the Citroen to pull over by a road near the Central South University of Forestry and Technology.

The local Xiaoxiang Chengbao reported that the female driver who was pursued was named Shi Qian, whose Citroen was bedecked with notices with the words "husband wanted" on them. The man chasing her in the Porsche was a potential suitor and wanted to stop her for the address of her personal website.

The woman's notice read: "Husband wanted. Must have a car and a house and treat me like a queen." Shi also specified a number of criteria, including: "no children of senior officials, no nouveau riche, must not have been married before." Providing some details about herself, Shi advertised that she was a 27-year-old, 167 cm in height, and assigned herself an "appearance score" of 87 out of 100.

The car drew attention wherever she went. One man who saw the notice on Shi's car prodded the friend sitting by his side, saying, "Court her... ask for her phone number and her website address!"

"It is crazy," said one female college student, who nonetheless admitted she admired Shi's courage. "The girl looks pretty but I wouldn't like a sister-in-law like her; it's too blatant a way of seeking a spouse."

Shi Qian said she wrote the notes herself, as she really hopes to get married. Since she began driving her newly decorated Citroen around Changsha from Oct. 5, she attracted more than one thousand visitors to her website. Pictures of her and her car have appeared on many other internet forums and have been viewed by over 100,000 visitors.

At 27, Shi said she was being pushed by her parents to find a husband. Shi's mother supported her unususla approach, saying, "The end justifies the means. As long as it brings my daughter a good husband, whatever steps she takes are fine."

Life-Size Ford Explorer Replica Built from LEGO Bricks

Lego and Ford come together to celebrate their new launches, a theme park in Orlando Florida and a new Explorer SUV respectively. Lego actually builds a life size Explorer SUV out of 380,000 lego bricks and it weighs 2,600 pounds. It took 22 builders to do it in 2,500 hours piecing together this incredibly detailed replica. The completed LEGO SUV weighs in at 2,654 pounds, almost half the weight of the 4,503-pound real deal.

It will be exhibited at the Legoland Florida theme-park where it will hopefully boost sales of the original model.

P1 cruiser crashed. Time to slow down?

In the Internet broadband world, the faster your speed, the better it is. The internet “highway” is a place where speed matters. But it doesn’t speak the same in the real world. Recently a P1 Wimax’s cruiser, that was spotted on a highway near KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport), crashed probably due to speeding. P1 Wimax is a telecommunications company in Malaysia that provides wireless broadband service that boasts of fast internet speeds.
Going too fast? Drive safe people!

Pirates of Carribean Black Pearl pirate ship stopped by police on Autobahn

Four Britons driving a car transformed into a pirate ship were stopped by German police as they drove through Europe on their way to a competition. The motley bunch dressed head-to-toe in pirate attire were on their way to an iconic vehicle contest.

The amateur ship - aptly named Black Pearl after Pirates of the Carribean's star Jack Sparrow's beloved boat - troubled motorway authorities near Holzkirchen in Germany.

Police couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the British registered J-plate banger decked out in wooden cladding - complete with a wheel, mast and iconic flag - sailing amongst traffic. It is believed the four-wheeled pirate ship was heading towards Munich when it was spotted and stopped.

The pirate wannabees - who have not been identified by police – were sent on their way after testing negative for alcohol and supplying necessary documentation.

A police spokesman said: ‘They had a road safety certificate for all of the modifications including the mast and the galley and so we wished them a safe voyage and allowed them to continue on their way.’

China driver refused to pay parking fee and fatally runs over meter maid

A man determined to escape paying a parking fee in downtown Shanghai ran over and killed a meter maid in the latest in a spate of road rage incidents in China.

The uniformed parking attendant was standing in front of the man’s car trying to prevent him from leaving when she was run over, the Xinmin News and other local reports said Thursday. Parking in the area costs 15 yuan (about USD2.35) an hour.

The reports said the man drove into the woman and that she was dragged under the Audi sedan until he stopped a short while later, and that passers by pulled her from beneath the car. She died after she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police, who reportedly took the man into custody, did not respond to phone calls after office hours Thursday.

A search for the vehicle involved in the incident in a police traffic website revealed 22 records, including for speeding and parking and other alleged violations.

Reports of road rage and drunk driving incidents in China have been on the rise, reflecting the boom in auto sales. Many drivers hit the streets with little more than cursory training and show scant regard for traffic lights and other basic rules.

If he can drive an Audi, he can definitely afford to pay for the parking fees. I don't understand why he refused to pay such a small amount. Stingy and heartless?

Miniature Lamborghini Aventador cost 12 times more than a real one

A German model maker has unveiled his finest creation yet – a scale model of a Lamborghini Aventador worth over three million pounds. Robert GĂĽlpen has built the most expensive car model in the world – a 1:8 scale replica of the Lamborghini Aventador made from carbon, platinum gold and decorated with precious stones.

Robert GĂĽlpen has been working on miniature model cars for over a decade now. The 52 year old took up the hobby after retiring from his career as a mechanical engineer. GĂĽlpen started making miniature car models from precious metals in the late 1990s which includes the Morgan Aero 8; Mercedes Benz 500 SL and Aston Martin DB5 from precious metals and gems and eventually became a renown miniature car model maker.

He decided the cutting edge Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 would be the perfect choice for his greatest masterpiece.  The body of the car is made from carbon, just like the original, and features precious metals and stones. Metal was used for the detailed rims and diamonds were inserted into the seats, steering wheel and headlights.

It took the German artist 500 hours to complete the world’s most expensive car model, but he now stands to receive more than a fair compensation. His little Lamborghini Aventador is scheduled to be auctioned off in December, by Sotheby’s, in either Dubai or New York, with a starting price of €3.5 million, nearly 12 times more than a real Aventador LP 700-4 (€303,450). But, if a buyer doesn’t feel like waiting until then, they can pay €4.5 million and take home the car. It will be displayed under bullet-proof glass and electronic safeguards to protect the potential buyer's investment at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show starting September 25.

I couldn't even afford a real Lamborghini Aventador and what more a extremely expensive Aventador by GĂĽlpen. If I can afford one, I'll rather choose a real Aventador to have the ultimate driving experience rather than a miniature that I can only put in a safe. This toy is most likely for a person who is loaded with extra cash till the extend he/she has no where else to spend!

Crazy drivers willing to do anything to save costs

A penny-pinching truck driver was so focused on getting his smashed-up rig repaired on the cheap that he tried to drive home without a windscreen.

Fortunately, road hound Lu Chen was spotted by police after he backed up traffic by going at a snails pace along a Chinese highway.
But the 38-year-old, dressed in a red T-shirt to match his rundown truck, didn't seem to be phased and kept driving until officers forced him to the side of the road.
On closer inspection, following a lengthy explanation from Lu, traffic police eventually let him continue but on one condition - he purchase a pair of goggles so he could keep up with the speed limit.
It's not the first time a frugal driver has been busted cruising along the highway, either.
In an unrelated incident in two men from Kazakhstan decided to save on trailer costs after snapping up a silver Mazda 626 that they wanted to ship back home.
When the car didn't fit in the white van the proper way up – the men called a few pals and loaded it in on its side - putting a mattress underneath to stop the doors getting scratched.
But the trip back home for Konstanty Krol, 38, and Cezar Chmielewski, 28, came to an end when police stopped the heavily laden vehicle after seeing it lurching all over the place in Bargthheide, Germany.
A police spokesman said the van and the car were confiscated and the men ordered to return with a proper transporter for the car before they would be allowed to continue the journey.

Man cuts off toes to free himself

A gutsy 61-year-old retired logger feared he might die alone in a remote Colorado forest after his right foot was pinned under his truck.
Mr Hutt holding the pocket knife he used to cut his toes

With few choices, he used a 7.5-centimetre pocket knife to cut off all five toes to get free.
"It hurt so bad," Jon Hutt said, "I would cut for a while and then I had to rest."
Mr Hutt then climbed into his semi-trailer, his foot wrapped in a shirt, and began driving for help.

He had gone into the woods by himself on August 19 to retrieve a pile of fallen aspen trees to cut for winter firewood. A trailer that was attached to his truck slipped and landed on his foot.

He told The Associated Press that he began cutting off his toes about 30 minutes later when he realised no one could hear his cries for help. He said he could not reach his mobile phone, which was in his pick-up and out of range anyway.

Mr Hutt told his wife he would be back in several hours, but he did not know when she might start searching for him.

"I cut off my boot to see my foot, and once I realised how bad it was, I started cutting off my toes," Mr Hutt said.

Once he freed himself, he stopped the bleeding with a shirt and drove toward his home outside Montrose, about 280 kilometres south-west of Denver. He called for help once he was in mobile phone range. An ambulance met him on the way.

Mr Hutt said authorities retrieved his severed toes and took them to the hospital, but doctors said the toes could not be reattached because they were too badly mangled.

Hospital spokeswoman Leann Tobin said Mr Hutt was released on August 22.

Mr Hutt said he never thought about the 2003 ordeal of Aaron Ralston, who amputated his right arm after it was pinned beneath a boulder in a Utah canyon, until someone reminded him about it at the hospital.

Mr Ralston's story became the subject of the movie 127 Hours.

Ouch, I wouldn't have the guts to do what Mr Hutt and Ralston did. When I watched the movie 127 Hours, I couldn't imagine myself in that situation and amputating without anesthetics is unbearable.

4 year old Chinese girl driving on busy streets

A GIRL of FOUR has been filmed driving down a busy main road while her dad shouts instructions from the back seat.

The incredible footage, apparently shot by the girl's mother, shows her speeding along a four-lane motorway, calmly overtaking other cars as she goes.

In the background, her parents can be heard reminding the youngster — who is not wearing a seatbelt — to look ahead and not be distracted.

At one point, as she overtakes an SUV, her father says: "Concentrate! Be careful when passing other vehicles."

When stopping at a set of traffic lights, the girl mistakenly queues in the left-turn lane. But she skilfully spins the wheel and pulls into the neighbouring lane to continue the journey.

After several minutes of driving her father says: "Jia Zheng, stop the car. Let daddy drive."
The man then jump out and slide into the driving seat. He is seen removing a set of stilts the youngster was using to control the pedals.

The extraordinary video was shot in Jinan, Shandong Province, China, and posted on YouKu, a popular Chinese video site. Understandably, the video created instant outrage among netizens in China and the call to punish the parents for endangering public safety. However, some users were impressed with her good driving skills and her coolness on the road, a trait not always apparent on China’s modern roadways. You can watch the video here.

If I’ve a kid with such good driving skills, I’ll teach her how to drift! Of course it’ll be in a controlled environment.

Man caught speeding while touching woman's breast

A photo captured by traffic surveillance camera showing a man speed-driving while putting his hand on a woman's breast in southwest China has triggered a massive online search to reveal his identity.

The photo showed the man was driving over the speed limit on a highway in Sichuan Province on July 29. He appeared in his 40s and was holding the wheel with one hand and his other hand was touching the breast of a young woman sitting next to him, local news website, newssc.org, reported today.

The photo circulated rapidly over the Internet and bloggers scrambled to reveal the identity of the pair. Some said the man was a senior official of Sichuan Changhong Electric Co Ltd, surnamed Deng, but the home appliance maker issued a statement to reject the allegation.

Liu Hai, a spokesperson for Changhong, said in his microblog that they have no such employee. A former employee with the same name had been fired back in 2004.

Meanwhile, the photo also sparked heated discussion whether traffic police have violated a citizen's privacy by posting it online.

An unnamed traffic police said it wasn't necessarily the police who leaked the picture as the surveillance system was outsourced to a company which also has access to the pictures.

Photos taken by the surveillance camera are used as evidences to fine violators. No company or individual has the right to use the pictures for purpose other than convicting the offender.

But a lawyer said the police is partially responsible for not managing the photo database properly.

That's one horny man that has high sex drive and cannot get his hands off the lady even when he is driving. Now I wonder how his wife will react when she sees this photo.

Monkey statues used by Chinese police to deter speeding

Police officers in China have come up with an unusual measure to deter speeding drivers - by dressing stone monkey statues in fluorescent jackets.

Clearly not content with the outcomes of speed cameras and sleeping policemen, traffic enforcers have turned to the novel idea of playing dress-up with animal statues.
Wearing police issue high-vis vests, the monkeys have been positioned along the roadside in the city of Changsha.

One installation shows a collection of stone primates huddled around a tree, glaring out at the oncoming traffic, one is carved swinging from a branch as another sits mesmerised by his feet.
The law enforcers in the capital city of southern China’s Hunan Province hope that the strange statues will remind drivers to not break the law.

Quite how well the monkeys will reduce traffic offences remains to be seen.

And there's also the chance the eye-catching figures may actually cause accidents by distracting drivers due to their bizarre appearance.

Illegally park car destroyed with a tank

The most common penalty for illegal parking is wheel clamping, towing the car away or slap the offender with a fine. A Lithuanian mayor, Arturas Zuokas decided to take it a step further.
Drivers who park illegally in the capital of Lithuania better check themselves before the city's mayor wrecks their rides.
Vilnius Mayor Arturas Zuokas revved up a tank and ran over a blue Mercedes parked in the wrong place at the wrong time in a video posted on YouTube recently.
The mayor pulled an interesting stunt recently to send out a rather simple message. But the way he delivered his message is anything but simple. Arturas Zuokas used a BTR, or a standard Soviet issue armored troop carrier, to crush a W140 Mercedes-Benz S-Class as part of a publicity stunt to show his frustration over the fact that wealthy citizens disregard the local parking laws wherever they choose to.
Zuokas hoped to warn drivers who park with impunity on the historic city streets.
"What should the city do about drivers who think that they are above the law?" Zuokas asked in the video, according to a translation posted on The Guardian's Web site.
"It seems that a tank is the best solution," he said.
After crushing the vehicle, Zuokas is shown sweeping up the debris and shaking the hand of the car's distraught owner.
A mayoral spokeswoman said the car was purchased to make a point and no actual Mercedes owners were hurt in the filming, The Guardian reported.
An advocate of alternative transportation now in his third term as mayor, Zuokas has had bike lanes installed throughout the city, the paper reported.
After crushing the offending Mercedes, Zuokas made his getaway not in a tank but on a motorized bike.
If our mayor does that in Malaysia, it will freak the daylights out of our errant motorist. On the hand, our mayor’s party might be voted out in the next election. Bravo to Zuokas for his bold move!
You can watch the video here.

Woman smashed up $1million worth of luxury cars

In Monte Carlo in Monaco earlier this week, a large crowd gathered to gawk, but it wasn't because of a Grand Prix race or a celebrity. A woman driving a Bentley Azure - sticker price $383,000 - crashed into a $95,000 Mercedes Benz.

But if that's not enough, the unidentified driver also hit a Ferrari 430 - priced at $270,000 - a Porsche 911 - $95,000 - and last, but not least, an Aston Martin Rapide - worth $220,000 - in the city square near the posh Place du Casino.

The accident caused such a mash-up that the woman in the Bentley couldn't open her car's doors.

The Daily Mail reports the crash is estimated to cost more than $65,000, with the Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin requiring new front wings and bumpers. The U.K. paper reports the Bentley will need the same repairs, and a new door.

I think most likely the woman will claim the damages from her car insurance. That'll be an expensive lesson to learn and burns a hole in the pocket. If I were to be in her shoe, I will have sleepless nights and I wouldn't know how to explain to my furious husband.

Too drunk to drive? Just push the car!

After a very happy office party held in a restaurant in downtown Changchun, northeast China’s Jilin Province, everyone in attendance drank too much and when it came time to leave were all were too drunk to drive home. The 10 employees ended up pushing their boss’s car home after all of them are too drunk to drive.
Starting 1 May 2011, drunk driving is a heavy offence in China which carries a heavy punishment in which an offender is punishable by up to six months in jail in addition to a hefty fine.
Boss Zhang Fei was uncomfortable with the idea of leaving his car at the restaurant overnight. His vice president, Huang Weiyun, who was just as drunk as everyone else, but he managed to come up with a workable albeit different solution to safely get cars and people home.  Huang suggested that the 10 workers push the vehicle, which is a VW, with Zhang at the wheel, three miles back to his home. The journey took 45 minutes to complete but the employees seem to enjoy it as they were singing and laughing all the way with onlookers watching and taking photos.
Theoretically, they did not break the law because the car’s engine was not running and traffic officers let them pass without penalty. Still, they warned passersby that pushing a car through the city streets when drunk can also be dangerous.

I take my hats off to the 10 employees for going the extra mile for their boss and Huang for his creative idea while trying to abide with the law. Truly remarkable!

Fred Flintstone's car on sale!

During my younger days, I was a fan of the cartoon Flintstone. I love watching the modern daily tools that are adapted during the Stone Age. For example, an elephant as a washing machine, birds as clothes pegs and leg-powered cars.
There’s this guy who is even a bigger fan of Flintstone than I am. He built a replica of Fred Flintstone’s car! According to InAutoNews.com, this cool replica of the Flintstones car is actually for sale, online. And the best thing about it is that under all that wooden exterior is a functional, drivable car powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6 petrol engine. Although it looks like it uses two wooden drums as wheels, if you look closely you’ll see one of the four old-fashion tires revealed, in the front. Which is a good thing, because steering would have been a problem with the original prehistoric system.

According to the above mentioned car blog, the vehicle already has 80,000 km under its belt, although it’s listed as built in 2011. The top speed of the real-life Flintstones car isn’t specified, but I’m pretty sure whatever it is, it beats pushing it with your feet. It is also fitted with real brakes and you don't have to use your feet to stop the car. If you’re interested and manage to find the actual sales ad, this nicely done replica apparently costs just 2,200 euros.

I'm not sure if this car is roadworthy but hey, it will definitely turn heads. I bet it'll turn more heads than a Lamborghini, Ferrari or Bentley because of its uniqueness. Pretty cheap for such an iconic piece of cartoon history.
