Chinese man spend $16,000 on a virtual sword

It is common to see hardcore gamers splurge their money into buying virtual items. Millions of people spend small amounts of money to obtain virtual items for their video game characters or avatars to wear and use proudly. But for this Chinese man, he spend a fortune on a single virtual item!

A Chinese man paid $16,000 for a one-of-a-kind sword in the upcoming martial arts MMO, Age of Wulin. The man won the honor of paying such a price for the virtual item through an auction put on by Snail Games, the maker of the title. Other notable acquisitions included two sheathes—one for the Hook of Departure and one for a Lordly Spear—which sold for $2,500 and $1,600.

$16,000 would be an absurd amount of money to spend on a REAL sword (not counting those of a more historical significance), let alone one that this man will never wrap his hands around.

Age of Wulin is set to open a beta in the spring of 2012, and an English version is expected shortly thereafter.

I am not sure if this sword will make his avatar immortal and it cannot be stolen. I would rather use that money to get myself a nice motorbike!

Fire in the hole gone wrong!

Watching this video reminds me of the time when the game Counterstrike was hot. If you throw your grenade wrongly, it might cost you your dear life.

A Chinese soldier almost died in a grenade throwing practice. The army is guided by his mentor and as he threw his grenade, the grenade bounced against a wall and fell back into the bunker. Both the soldier and his mentor ducked for safety but his mentor managed to pull him into the pit, saving his life or from serious injury.

Woman sleepwalks to her death

Sleepwalking is no laughing matter and it occurs to many of us without us realising it. You may even die from sleepwalking just like this woman.

A 55-year-old  woman in US sleepwalked into a lake and drowned.

Charlene Ferrero left her Oaklyn, New Jersey apartment Saturday night and fell from a train trestle into a lake, and drowned - all while she was asleep.

Her body was pulled out from Newton Lake by search crews.

Ferrero worked as a waitress at the Starview Diner in Somerdale, New Jersey. Her co-workers are just as baffled as her friends over her tragic end.

The autopsy ruled Ferrero's death an accident, though it will take several weeks for results of the toxicology report. Medications such as sleep aid Ambien have been known to cause sleepwalking.

For sleepwalkers, is it safer to chain ourselves?

Bridge risk collapsing due to human

The Howrah Bridge in the Indian city of Kolkata is at risk of collapsing because the steel at its base is being corroded by human saliva.

Pedestrians who have been chewing betel leaf, areca nut and slaked lime have been spitting on the bridge's steel hangers, causing them to weaken.

The red stains left by the paan mixture - a mild stimulant chewed throughout India - are caked around the metal casings of the bridge.

Authorities say the paan-laced spit has reduced the thickness of the bridge's hangers from six millimetres to three millimetres.

In an attempt to save the bridge, port engineers have come up with the idea of covering the steel with fibreglass.

Several years ago authorities were forced to begin regular clean up of bird droppings which were also corroding the bridge.

It has also been damaged before from a number of car and boat accidents.

The cantilever suspension bridge opened in 1943 and spans more than 450 metres across the Hooghly River.

It is thought to be the busiest of its kind in the world, with more than 100,000 vehicles crossing a day and more than 150,000 pedestrians pounding its walkways daily.

Chinese man strips naked and caged himself to protest dog buthers

An encaged performance artist set up shop in front of a Guizhou Province dog butcher shop yesterday to protest the consumption of dogs. Despite the 3 degrees celsius outside temperature, the 40-year-old canine advocate, Pian Shankong, was clad in nothing but a pair of underwear. Throngs of self-proclaimed dog volunteers joined him in the demonstration, chanting "do not eat dog meat."

Pian stated with regards to the bizarre spectacle:
"I do urge you not to eat dog meat. We love promoting small animals, protection of human faithful friend."
Pian's protest is one of many demonstrations he has "performed" in a circuit of Southwest China, spanning Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces in addition to Guizhou.

China has recently banned a dog-eating festival that dates back more than 600 years after a Chinese internet uproar over the way dogs are slaughtered. However there are still some butchers that are still slaughtering dogs for its meat.

Man dives into frozen waterfall for 'good health'

To what extend will you do to stay healthy? Most of us will rely on vitamins, supplements, exercise, balance diet and adequate rest.

In China it is believed that taking a swim in near-freezing water boosts the body's immune system.

This 'winter swimming' is especially popular amongst the elderly community as they believe it improves circulation, increases mental awareness, releases stress, removes aches and pains, increases vitality and keeps skin looking youthful.

A Chinese man dives into the Jingpo lake from a frozen waterfall on Mudanjiang, in northeast China's Heilongjiang province - all for the sake of his health. But this man obviously took it one step further with his high-flying 'frozen dive', as there were groups of photographers on-hand to capture the moment.

Inspired by action movie, Chinese man bombs bank van in an attempted robbery

Wang Haijian

A man arrested for bombing a bank in China that killed two people and injured 15 others said he was inspired from the plot of a Chinese action movie.
Wang Haijian, 24, is accused of causing the explosion near a branch of the China Construction Bank in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, Dec 1.
Police said Wang and his friends planned to blow up a cash delivery truck, having seen a similar incident in Chinese action movie “The Underdog Knight 2″, the Shanghai Daily reported.
Wang reportedly experimented with homemade explosives and suffered damage to his left eye, lost two teeth and sustained many smaller facial wounds, police said.
His friends quit after the experiments failed but Wang persevered and finally made the explosives.
When he put his plan into practice and detonated the explosives, the cash delivery truck he targeted was undamaged because a private car blocked it, police said.

Police later identified Wang, a native of Zaoyang in Hubei, as the suspect, saying he had been caught on surveillance cameras.
Wang was arrested at the Wuhan General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Command when he was sleeping in the waiting room of the hospital after two nurses saw he had five detonators with him and informed the police.

Wang, an air conditioner repairman working in Wuhan, lived in a village in the city's Donghu New Technology Development Zone before the explosion. But the police were unable to find him.

They publicized his photo and offered a 100,000 yuan (RM50,000) reward for information that led to his arrest.

Wang admitted making home-made explosive devices and attempting to rob an armored car by detonating a bomb.
Wang’s parents have apologised to the blast victims.

Egytian woman beaten and stripped topless during protest demonstration

The woman who was dramatically photographed as she was beaten stripped and beaten senseless by Egyptian soldiers does not want to come forward because she is ashamed by her treatment.

Footage and stills of the woman being beaten to the ground, kicked and stamped on as her hijab was torn off in Tahrir Square have made front page news around the world.

Moments earlier, she had been struck countless times on the head and body with metal batons by a ten-strong mob before losing consciousness and slumping to the floor.

Soldiers then continued the assault, revealing her bra after her abaya was virtually pulled off during the assault.

Hassan Mahmoud, a journalist for the newspaper Al Badeel, was near the woman as she stumbled and was then set upon by military police.

He told The Guardian: 'They wanted to take her away from us but then a few brave protesters came in and started hurling stones and that was the one thing that saved her from their hands.'
The unnamed woman was treated for hand and leg injuries, before she was taken home where she is said to have been left feeling wretched after her ordeal.

Mr Mahmoud said she told him: 'It doesn't matter if I talk [to the media] or not, their stripping me is enough to reveal them and tell enough to those who still believe them.'
Mohamed Zeidan, who filmed the shocking beating from a balcony overlooking Tahrir Square, said he stopped recording out of fear of being discovered.

'The army were like vultures who found a prey,' he said. 'The soldiers even beat an older couple who tried to help her up.'

Chinese man swallowed 6 inch nail - three times

A Chinese carpenter is recovering in hospital after swallowing a six inch nail - three times.

Li Xiangyang, 48, of Huangshi, Hubei Province, was holding the nail between his teeth when he suddenly coughed and swallowed it. He was taken to the nearby Wuhan University Hospital in where doctors x-rayed him and found the nail was in his right lung.

Realising it had to be removed immediately, Professor Hu Ke fed a fibre-optic bronchoscope down his throat to pull it out. But, just as he was on the verge of pulling the nail out of his mouth, Li coughed again and sucked it back down his throat. This time it ended up in his left lung. Professor Hu tried again but, at the last minute, Li involuntarily swallowed and the nail disappeared again. Doctors couldn’t find the nail in either lung and eventually realised that it was now in his stomach where it was finally removed with a gastroscope clamp.

Chinese man walks 2,400 km home with a donkey

A 34-year-old migrant worker, who works in East China's Zhejiang province, is walking with his donkey more than 2,400 kilometers to get back home after buying it in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, Yangtze Evening Post reported Thursday.

Zhuang works at a construction site and often has to carry heavy loads on his shoulders walking uphill. A strong and docile donkey seemed to Zhuang just the companion he needed to help him with his job and allow him to save his energy.

In July, Zhuang officially started his search for a donkey. He left his job, walked north and passed Beijing and Xi'an, a well-renowned ancient cultural city in Northwest China. Finally, Zhuang came to a livestock trade market in Qinggang county, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province and handpicked two donkeys. A 4-year-old donkey cost him 2,200 yuan and an 8-year-old pregnant one was purchased for 2,000 yuan.

Zhuang assumed that it wouldn't take long for him to ride the two donkeys back home, so he embarked on his return journey along the national expressway. But soon he was proved wrong. When he completed only about a quarter of the journey, the pregnant donkey totally gave up walking and was sold by Zhuang at a discounted price of 1,555 yuan.

Five months later, Zhuang finally arrived in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, still 200 kilometers from his final destination. According to Zhuang, he has already spent more than 10,000 yuan, most on shoes as he walked most of the journey.

Zhuang revealed that he can walk 30 kilometers a day if he doesn't rest, so he still needs to walk about seven more days to get back home.

Students brutally beaten in martial arts school

Some schools are dead serious in disciplining their students especially this one in China. Recently, teachers from a martial arts school in Henan Province were exposed to have physically punished students frequently, because they failed to comply with the school discipline, such as smoking, sleeping or causing noise in class, playing truant, and others. About 90 percent of students surveyed did not even think of using the law to protect themselves, because they feared that they would receive more cruel punishment.

It was learned that the teachers mainly used the clubs to hit the buttocks of students caught misbehaving (as the butt has more fat and it won’t cause internal injury, according to the school authority). The school authority often gathered the whole students of the school to watch when they beat these students, because as what they said, it could work as a warning to all others.

Facing the questioning about the physical punishment to students, a teacher however explained that they were forced to do that because there were too many students in the martial arts school, and it was the most effective way to control those students who always challenged the school discipline and often drank and smoked in school.

Malaysia is not spared from the increasing disciplinary problem in schools. It is made worst when some parents do not empower the teachers to discipline their children resulting the children being bold enough to challenging the school's authority. Is this martial arts school in China doing a good move to discipline their students? Or is the school too harsh? Your call to decide.

Finnish man stops traffic on a busy street in China using Tai Chi

There are many eccentric people around. Not long ago, a Chinese man practiced his yoga in the middle of a busy street causing the city centre to a near gridlock. This time it's a Finnish guy that stops busy traffic using Tai Chi.

A Finnish foreign language teacher jumps onto the road and uses tai chi to force cars to stop at a zebra crossing for pedestrians. The man – dubbed "foreign uncle" – has been working as a language teacher in Fuzhou, Fujian province for 11 years and became frustrated with Chinese drivers failing to stop.

Ma Ruinan, his Chinese name, has a strong interest in the country’s culture and decided to use taichi when crossing the road, like in this photo taken on Dec 12, 2011. "Tai chi is so grace and deliberate," he said. "But why are Chinese drivers always in a hurry? Isn’t common sense for cars to stop for pedestrians?"

Woman killed baby and brought dead infant shopping

Chicago police say 20-year-old mother Toyrianna Smith killed her infant son when he would not stop crying and then took the dead infant shopping with her.

Police say Smith took her her 3-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son to a friend’s home where she hung out with her friends, drank liquor and had her hair done, according to CBS station WBBM.

Later that night she stumbled into her room and slept. During the night her son, Ken Blackman Jr., began to cry. When Smith woke up, she allegedly slapped him in the face repeatedly and put a blanket over his head.
The child cried a second time. Authorities say Smith once again slapped him and put a blanket over his face, pressing down until his arms began jerking and he stopped crying.

Prosecutors said friends asked the next morning why the baby was not moving and she said he was asleep.
In the morning she allegedly dressed Ken and put him in a Baby Bjorn, then took the dead infant with her while she shopped for several hours.

A neighbor noticed blood on the child’s blanket and thought the child was not breathing and called police.

Chinese beggar talks man out of suicide

A disabled beggar who described his own pain and misery prevented a heartbroken man from committing suicide in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province.

"Look at me," Li Xiaohui shouted from his tiny cart on the street. "There is no barrier you cannot overcome in your life."

He was calling out to a man on the roof of a 14-story building who was threatening to jump unless his wife returned to him. He had already slashed his left hand several times with a knife.

According to local police and media reports, officers were alerted to the suicidal man around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

Li, who was among a crowd of people on the street, urged the man not to end his life.

"Your parents are concerned about you," Li said. "Please come down and I will be with you all day today."
Assisted by others in the crowd, Li made it up to the rooftop and continued talking, referring to his own hardships in life.

The man was rescued several hours after police were called to the scene.

Li, who is from neighboring Anhui province, was already known for his selfless acts.

He reportedly donated 100 yuan (about 1,200 yen or $15) to victims of the devastating 2008 Sichuan earthquake by begging for change.

Sometimes there are less fortunate people like this Chinese beggar who has the heart for the people around him. He used his life testimony to impact others. I'm truly touched by him.

Woman drowned cat in bathtub (Video)

A sick video of a cat being drowned in a bath has been posted on the internet — by the same sadist behind footage of a kitten being fed to a python.
The latest video — uncovered by The Sun — shows the terrified pet taped to a broom handle being slowly lowered into the water by a woman.
Bubbles can be seen rising as it struggles frantically before losing its fight for life.
The footage, called "Bathtime lol" was posted on YouTube at the weekend by a user called jasminethecat666.
The same sicko posted a video exposed by The Sun last week, which showed a tiny kitten being fed to a Burmese python — as the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy played in the background.
The video has been taken down from youtube but you can still watch a copy of the video here.
The oddball is linked to a film posted last Christmas in which a man kills two kittens by putting them in a bag and sucking the air out with a vacuum cleaner.
Disgusted readers contacted The Sun about the python video. Anna King said: "This scumbag needs to be caught."
Welfare group PETA offered a reward of £2,000 last night for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Boyfriend forced girlfriend to wear chastity belt

This past summer in Chengdu, a blatantly insecure boyfriend forced his girlfriend to endure beatings, sleep deprivation and a chastity belt over his suspicions she was cheating on him.

The two unfortunate lovers met in August, while the man, surnamed Hemou, was on a business trip in Chengdu. The two immediately fell head over heels in love, and Hemou bought an apartment for them to live in. However, he harbored violent tendencies that soon came to the surface.

When Hemou suspected his girlfriend, surnamed Tian, was seeing someone behind his back, he punched and kicked her before throwing her in the bedroom and locking the door. He then hopped on the internet and ordered a chastity belt, which he made her don under threats of violence.

When he returned home later that night after work, he found "evidence" of someone attempting to pry their way into the belt, and punished Tian severely by binding her hands and feet together and leaving her alone in the bedroom.

After being tortured for two days with beatings and sleep deprivation, Tian managed to scribble a cry for help onto a piece of paper which she then threw out the window while Hemou was at work.

A passerby found the note, and alerted the police, who rescued Tian. Police then lay in wait for Hemou to return home, whereupon he was quickly arrested.

Hemou was charged with unlawful detention and deprivation of liberty, and was sentenced to seven months in prison.

Over $3million worth of supercars accident pile up

A Sunday drive has ended in a $3.5 million nightmare, with eight Ferraris, three Mercedes-Benzes and a Lamborghini involved in a 14-car pile-up in Japan.

The epic accident occurred yesterday at around 10:15am on the Chugoku Expressway in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Up to 10 people were reportedly taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Two Ferrari 355s, two Ferrari 360s, two Ferrari 430s (one of which was a rare Scuderia variant), and a Ferrari 512 were totalled in what has been described as one of the most expensive pileups in history.

Sitting rather innocently in the middle of it all was a Toyota Prius, which, by the looks of it, suffered the least damage of all the cars involved. A Nissan GT-R and Lamborghini Diablo were less fortunate.

The official cause of the accident is yet to be determined, however it’s understood a Ferrari clipped the median strip while travelling at around 140km/h. This set off a chain reaction of crashes, spanning some 400 metres down the highway.

The total price of the cars involved is beyond $3 million.

3 year old boy died after being put into washing machine

A 33-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his three-year-old son by locking him in a washing machine and turning it on.

Christophe Champenois, from Meaux, near Paris, allegedly stripped Bastien naked and shut him in the machine to punish him for a prank at nursery school - throwing a classmate's drawing down a toilet.

He is then said to have run the cold cycle wash for a few minutes at their house, in the village of Germigny-l'Eveque.

The child, whom neighbours described as blond and angelic, died of head injuries on Friday night, French police said.

His mother Charlene, 25, recovered him from the machine, according to Le Parisien newspaper.

She then ran to her neighbour, known only as Alice, and told her that Bastien had 'fallen down the stairs'.

Alice told Le Parisien: 'I picked him up and his limbs were as loose as those of a rag doll.

'I felt his heart beat for the last time and then he died.'

Bastien's five-year-old sister, Maud, told Alice's husband that it was not the first time the boy's father had put him in the washing machine as punishment.

Neighbours told the newspaper that the boy had been repeatedly abused - by being locked up for hours in a cupboard and also by being left on a window sill for hours wrapped in a blanket.

'Bastien was an unwanted child', claimed Evelyne, his grandmother.

'On the day he was born, his father was out drinking and when I told him he had a son, he said that he didn't want him.'

A judge in Meaux placed unemployed Champenois under investigation for murdering his child and charged his wife, a mother of seven, with failing to prevent a crime and failing to assist a person in danger.

Both were placed in custody and their surviving children taken into care.

Chinese man trains his dog to do shopping for him

Some dogs bring their owner a newspaper or their slippers -- but this one goes much further and even does the shopping.
A man in China has found one more reason that dogs are man's best friend. He's trained his dog to go grocery shopping for him.

The dog carries a basket in his mouth with a shopping list and money to the store. Shopkeepers look out for the dog and they send him home with everything on the list.

The man says he used to take the dog to the store with him and trained him to carry the bag home. Eventually he started sending the dog out by himself.

It could be all about the reward at the end. When the dog gets home, he gets a treat of sausage and ice cream.

I'm inspired and for the start, I will now train my cat to wash my clothes. Haha!

Girlfriend cursed boyfriend: A man without money is like rubbish

A recent video of a Chinese girl scolding her boyfriend for having no money has gone viral and sparked a debate over the Internet where people resent the woman’s behavior, while some speculate that this is a publicity stunt.
In a video shot in subway, a woman curses his boyfriend, saying “a man without money is like rubbish.” The woman in the video speaks in Beijing dialect, kept scolding her boyfriend by saying “a man without money is like rubbish”. She also rebuked him that he should not marry her if he has no money. Although being cursed in public, he remained silent with his head down. The abusive woman reprimand his silence as depicting himself as a "useless being.” Seeing her boyfriend is still silent, the angry woman gets off the train and leaves his behind. The whole scene was captured by a passenger and up loaded to the Internet, which caused wide controversy among netizens.
I had a friend who was ditched by his girlfriend many years ago as she felt that my friend wasn’t capable and good enough for her. His girlfriend thought highly of herself and she felt that she deserves a guy which is better in career and financial wise. As my friend was just a fresh graduate, he started out low and he toiled his way to the top. Now he is better off financially and in career in comparison to his ex-girlfriend. Well, see who has the last laugh now, huh?
The moral of the story is never to despise anyone. One day he or she will turn out to be a successful person. Well, to this girl in the video, don’t be too proud as one day your boyfriend will have the last laugh!

Girlfriend runs away from Mama's boy

What if your boyfriend always opposed you by saying, 'Mum said this,' 'Mum said that'? A 28-year-old woman in Chongqing finally couldn't stand it anymore and 'ran away from home' on Nov 19.

The woman, who declined to give her name, had been in love with her boyfriend, 29, for three years. But the man found she was gone on Nov 19. He dialed 110 before police found her at Changshou Railway Station in Chongqing.

'Whenever we buy something, he would ask his mother's opinion first," the woman said. Once they went to buy a bed, she preferred a soft mattress but the man disagreed because 'mum said soft mattress is no good'. They haven't reached an agreement on that yet.

The woman likes wearing flat-heeled shoes but her boyfriend often told her, 'Mum said high-heeled shoes make women look elegant.' The woman said she was annoyed for by his constant 'mum said' and lack of his own ideas. 'I couldn't stand it anymore,' said the woman, who said she was actually going on a business trip without telling him. She said she just wanted to scare him and expected him to change.

I've met men who are mama's boy where his mother will do everything for him, in which it is quite common, but I've not met any men who is such an extreme where his mother decides everything. Have you met anyone worst than this?

Indian drunkard sells daughter to feed his booze

Alcoholism is no laughing matter; people go to the bizarre depths just to satisfy their urge to drink. For one man in India, turning tricks on the street apparently wasn’t good enough for him. He tried to auction off his six-year-old daughter for booze money.

Krishnaiah, 40, was refused a purchase of $21 worth of booze at a store in Kadapa due to already having racked up a huge tab.

Rejected and clearly in need of alcohol, the laborer, known in town as a drunk, went to a nearby town and placed his daughter on the auction block.

The daughter was auctioned openly, and one man, Mohd Bash, walked away with the poor girl for an astounding $21, or 1,000 rupees. How convenient.

Bash, afraid of what would happen if the police found out, ditched the girl and left.

What happened to Krishnaiah? Well, the police arrived and he was beaten up, then arrested. The fate of the girl isn’t known, but with luck she won’t be sold again.

The woman returned to her car and the blue car reversed to give way but the woman in the silver car provoked the driver by closing on her head to head again. Again, the driver in the blue car reversed to give way but the driver in the silver car blocked her path again.

Angered by the action of the woman in the silver car, the driver in the blue car rammed into the woman's car. The woman later alighted from her car but before she can walk to the driver in the other, her car was rammed again causing her to fall.

The video ended with the blue car ramming the other viciously as the woman from the silver car jumped of out harm.

Man arrested for masturbating during bus ride

He was having a little too much fun on this ride.

A Brooklyn man was busted on a Philly-Chinatown bus yesterday for pleasuring himself in front of disgusted fellow riders, police said.

“He was staring back at me the whole time,” horrified passenger Iliana Martinez, 37, told The Post. “He wanted me to see him. He gave me a dirty look, like: ‘Look what I’m doing on the bus.’ ”

Martinez, of Blackwood, NJ, got on the bus in Philadelphia for a cheap ride into the city to visit her sister.

It’s a trip she often makes with her 18-year-old daughter, who was not with her this time. Genrong Zhang was sitting in front of her, and when she realized what he was doing, “I kicked his chair” to get him to stop, she said.

“He looked back at me and smirked. It’s sick. My daughter could have been with me.”

Martinez called the cops, prompting the bus driver to pull over at Pike Street and Broadway.

“They locked the doors and told everyone to stay calm,” Martinez said.

Meanwhile, Zhang, 39, of Brooklyn, pretended to be asleep, Martinez said.

But cops weren’t fooled, and hauled Zhang away, charging him with public lewdness.

“I was scared and I was offended,” Martinez said. “It was really disrespectful.

“He’s a jerk-off,” she said. “He deserves that name.”

Tibetan rights group releases video allegedly shows nun burning

A Tibetan rights group has released graphic video of what it says is a Buddhist nun setting herself on fire in one of several apparent protests against Chinese rule.

Footage obtained by Students for a Free Tibet purports to show 35-year-old Palden Choetso. Her death on November 03 in predominantly Tibetan Ganzi prefecture in Sichuan province has previously been reported.

The video shows a woman in nun's robes standing on a street corner engulfed in flame.

It also shows about 10,000 mourners gathering at a monastery for a candlelight vigil to pay their respects to the nun while about 1,000 monks and nuns hold prayers inside.
At least 11 monks, nuns, and former monks have self-immolated this year in what are seen as acts of desperation.

Ex-millionaire happier without his money

If you are a millionaire, what will you do with your money? Buy a sports car? Buy a mansion? Or give it all away?

A millionaire who gave away all his cash to charity two years ago because it didn't make him happy has told how he's finally found contentment.

Businessman Karl Rabeder, 49 - from Telfs, Austria - sold his business, a luxury Alpine mansion, limos and sports cars, a private plane and donated the cash to a charity that sponsors small loans to customers in the Third World who would never be given cash by a bank.

He now lives on £1,000 a month from fees for talks to businessmen about his new life and is buying a modest home.

"Only now am I happy. If you write down the things that really make you happy and their cost, you will realise what I mean," said Rabeder.

"Love, sunshine, fresh air - those are the things that make me happy," he added.

And he thanked the charity for taking his cash and finally letting him enjoy life.

"Having only a little money makes me happier. Seeing pictures of me back then as a millionaire, I look so miserable," he said.

It's truly amazing that Karl Rabeder found happiness by giving away his money. Will you give away all your money in search of happiness? If you do, give it to me!!

Loyal dog guards the grave of deceased master

People living in a Chinese village have been so moved by a dog that has been guarding the grave of its deceased owner they plan to build a kennel for him.

The yellow dog belonged to Lao Pan, a single man who died earlier this month aged 68.
After his room in Panjiatun village near Qingdao city, Shandong Province, was cleared his dog disappeared.
But villagers later found the dog by the grave of its owner. Reports say that for seven days, the dog stayed there, refusing to leave.
Seeing that the dog was going without food, the locals tried to take it back to the village and gave it some buns.
The dog took the buns and returned to the graveyard.
Now the villagers are taking food and water to the dog regularly and plan to put up a kennel for it near its owner's grave.

The story is reminiscent of Edinburgh's Greyfriar Bobby, a Skye terrier who, history recalls, spent 14 years at his master's grave in the 19th century.
He is now immortalised with a bronze statue in the city and has his own website.
Bobby belonged to John Gray, who worked for Edinburgh City Police. He was two when Gray died of tuberculosis in 1858 and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard.

The dog apparently spent the rest of his life sitting on his master's grave, cared for by well-wishers. Several books and films have been based on his story.

Children shamed robber into fleeing

An armed robber who held up a babysitter was shamed into leaving empty-handed when two young children offered him their pocket money.

The man had rung the doorbell of a house in the German town of Schwanewede, near Bremen, and then forced his way in, reports The Local.

Armed with a gun and wearing a balaclava, the man had the terrified babysitter at gunpoint when the children she was looking after, came downstairs.

When they offered him their savings, he was apparently overcome with shame and left the house without a word - or a penny.

"The children had heard what was going on from upstairs and came down with their money, all their savings," a police spokesman said.

He said he was not releasing the ages of the children in order to protect them from being identified, but that they were both younger than seven.

"The robber must have realised what he was doing was awful, and simply put his gun away and left," added the spokesman.

At least the robber has some conscience not to rob and harm children. Isn't that bad after all, eh?

Naked 60-year old woman go on street rampage

Now that we think about it, it probably is really hard to even try and control a naked 60-year-old woman on a rampage. Especially when she is running through a Chinese restaurant in Bay Ridge or running out into the street to spread eagle on the roof of a car. Police were eventually able to control the woman, but not before a crowd of nearly 300 onlookers gathered to watch her public meltdown.

The incident took place after 3 p.m. on Thursday in Bay Ridge on Third Avenue between 80th and 81st Streets. The woman in question, who police are declining to identify, was apparently a regular on the strip known for muttering to herself but had never been known to do anything like this. Apparently what set her off was seeing something that said "Free" (possibly "free delivery") in the window of Dragon China between 79th and 80th Streets. When the cashier there told her that everything wasn't free the woman started screaming, stripping her clothes off and throwing things around.
"This old lady was trashing the place," Noreen Monier, who owns a nearby store, told The Brooklyn paper. "I told her to stop and she threw a watermelon at me. She had superhuman strength. She said, 'I’ll stop when I’m good and ready.'" She really had at the place, too. Reportedly picking up phones, answering calls and throwing money around.

After doing more damage there the woman moved to the streets and laid down on the hood of a black convertible, whose driver didn’t know what to do. Finally, the police get her under control, but it took a lot of effort.

At least nobody was hurt. It is unclear if the woman, who is clearly disturbed, has been charged with anything at this time.
