Illegally park car destroyed with a tank

The most common penalty for illegal parking is wheel clamping, towing the car away or slap the offender with a fine. A Lithuanian mayor, Arturas Zuokas decided to take it a step further.
Drivers who park illegally in the capital of Lithuania better check themselves before the city's mayor wrecks their rides.
Vilnius Mayor Arturas Zuokas revved up a tank and ran over a blue Mercedes parked in the wrong place at the wrong time in a video posted on YouTube recently.
The mayor pulled an interesting stunt recently to send out a rather simple message. But the way he delivered his message is anything but simple. Arturas Zuokas used a BTR, or a standard Soviet issue armored troop carrier, to crush a W140 Mercedes-Benz S-Class as part of a publicity stunt to show his frustration over the fact that wealthy citizens disregard the local parking laws wherever they choose to.
Zuokas hoped to warn drivers who park with impunity on the historic city streets.
"What should the city do about drivers who think that they are above the law?" Zuokas asked in the video, according to a translation posted on The Guardian's Web site.
"It seems that a tank is the best solution," he said.
After crushing the vehicle, Zuokas is shown sweeping up the debris and shaking the hand of the car's distraught owner.
A mayoral spokeswoman said the car was purchased to make a point and no actual Mercedes owners were hurt in the filming, The Guardian reported.
An advocate of alternative transportation now in his third term as mayor, Zuokas has had bike lanes installed throughout the city, the paper reported.
After crushing the offending Mercedes, Zuokas made his getaway not in a tank but on a motorized bike.
If our mayor does that in Malaysia, it will freak the daylights out of our errant motorist. On the hand, our mayor’s party might be voted out in the next election. Bravo to Zuokas for his bold move!
