Mobile phone charger stucked to boy's head.

A baby boy had a mobile phone charger stuck in the back of his head after falling out of bed and on to the device.
The year-old lad is recovering in hospital after surgeons removed the charger in a four-hour operation. They had to dismantle it piece by piece until just two small metal rods were left. They then drilled open the boy's skull to remove the final parts in Quingyuan, China.
Chief surgeon Li Guofeng said: "A black mobile phone charger was nailed into the back of his skull.
"It's the first time I met such a case."
And Mr Guofeng said the boy was lucky to be alive, adding: "If the vessels had been broken, the baby could have died within seconds."

P1 cruiser crashed. Time to slow down?

In the Internet broadband world, the faster your speed, the better it is. The internet “highway” is a place where speed matters. But it doesn’t speak the same in the real world. Recently a P1 Wimax’s cruiser, that was spotted on a highway near KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport), crashed probably due to speeding. P1 Wimax is a telecommunications company in Malaysia that provides wireless broadband service that boasts of fast internet speeds.
Going too fast? Drive safe people!

Pirates of Carribean Black Pearl pirate ship stopped by police on Autobahn

Four Britons driving a car transformed into a pirate ship were stopped by German police as they drove through Europe on their way to a competition. The motley bunch dressed head-to-toe in pirate attire were on their way to an iconic vehicle contest.

The amateur ship - aptly named Black Pearl after Pirates of the Carribean's star Jack Sparrow's beloved boat - troubled motorway authorities near Holzkirchen in Germany.

Police couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the British registered J-plate banger decked out in wooden cladding - complete with a wheel, mast and iconic flag - sailing amongst traffic. It is believed the four-wheeled pirate ship was heading towards Munich when it was spotted and stopped.

The pirate wannabees - who have not been identified by police – were sent on their way after testing negative for alcohol and supplying necessary documentation.

A police spokesman said: ‘They had a road safety certificate for all of the modifications including the mast and the galley and so we wished them a safe voyage and allowed them to continue on their way.’

Husband's love songs wake wife from 8-year coma

A former singer woke his wife from an eight year coma after singing love songs to her every day, Shandong Business Daily reported.

Song Yuhuan, 36, was left in a coma 11 years ago after her heart stopped while being injected with faulty medicine to cure inflammation.

Her husband Zhang Yuhua, a former singer, would serenade her with love songs and was forced to sell all their valuable possessions to pay medical bills.

"All friends and even some of my wife's family members suggested I give up hope on her, but I couldn't, because I do love her," Zhang said. "It never occurred to me that she could wake up. I kept telling myself that I have to take care of her whatever."

Then one day three years ago, the miracle they had been hoping for happened. "Her tears dropped on one of my elbows when I was holding her to my body, singing and whispering my pains to her ears," Zhang said. "I cried and cried for a straight night after I had found out she had got back consciousness."

Song soon began uttering words and made a full recovery. The couple, from East China's Shandong province, even had a baby girl.

"I was quite worried about her health at first, but doctors told me it might be helpful for her if she's pregnant, for it could help her brain blood circulation or what. I said yes then for as long as it's good for my wife's health," Zhang said.

Life's miracles went on. Their daughter is now two-and-a half-year old. "My wife's health has been bouncing quite well since she was pregnant," said Zhang.

Chinese man caught throwing puppy into the sea

In an act of appalling cruelty, a depraved young man hurls a defenceless, unwanted puppy into the sea.

The dazed puppy made it back to the shore whereupon the man threw it back in the water in Xiamen, in southern China's Fujian Province.

The sickening scene was captured by a passer-by strolling along the beach.
As the puppy kept coming back, the man, believed to be in his 20s, repeatedly hurled it back into the water.

Other people on the beach screamed at him to stop, but he ignored their pleas.

Eventually the puppy, by now exhausted, lost the strength to make it back to the beach and struglled on to a rock.
The man left the beach and the puppy was rescued by a swimmer.

He gave it a young woman who witnesses the sickening abuse.

One witness, Mr Wang, said: 'I thought the man had come to the beach for a walk with his pet dog, but what he did next surprised all of us.

'He held the little dog, leaned backward and threw the puppy out into the sea.
'The puppy was very small, it was around eight inches long.
'It landed about 20-30 yards away in the water.'

Mr Wang said he was stunned as the man threw the puppy into the sea five times, ignoring attempts by people around him to make him stop.

'That man was very cruel. He kept throwing the puppy into the water.'

The puppy's new owner promised to give the helpless animal a good home.

Sadly, the man who carried out the cruelty will probably go unpunished.

Chinese man riding on a bicyle minus the front wheel

There is a Chinese proverb ‘Diligence and constancy of purpose achieve the impossible’. Probably this Chinese biker has digested the above proverb, because he is riding his bicycle like a boss when the front wheel is missing.

Seriously, this man has very good balancing skills and he should join the circus! Watch this weird Chinese Unicycle.

Chinese man arrested for keeping 6 sex slaves

Dungeon where the 6 sex slaves are kept
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in the Chinese province of Henan after police found he had locked six women in a basement, the state-run Southern Metropolis Daily said.

Li Hao, a former civil servant with the technological supervision bureau, has been accused of repeatedly raping all of them and killing two over the past two years.

The sex slaves were kidnapped by Hao from karoke bars. He kept them in a semistarved situation as a way to break down their resistance, and make it difficult for them to escape.

One of the captives escaped and informed the police when he had let her out to work as a prostitute. He was arrested from an underground prison after she led the police to it on September 6. The underground prison remained unknown to residents of a crowded area after Li bought the place and dug up the earth under the ground floor to create two rooms. He kept the six girls in the two rooms without toilet facilities.

The paper described the underground prison where the women ate, slept and defecated in as dank and smelly. With no way to escape, the women resigned to their circumstances and even fought with each other to gain his attention and approval.

The competition resulted in a brutal fight with one of the woman killing another inmate at Li's instigation. Li killed another woman when he felt she had become disobedient. He allegedly buried the bodies under the basement rooms. Li's wife and son lived in another part of the city and were ignorant of his activities.

'Scarlett Johansson' naked photo recreated in many hilarious shots

After images purportedly showing Scarlett Johansson posing almost naked in front of a mirror went viral online, dozens of imitators have posted their own snaps recreating the pose on Facebook.

Last week, a photo showing a woman who resembles the 26-year-old actress holding a towel with her rear reflected in a mirror behind her appeared on the internet.

Since then, a number of people have uploaded similar snaps revealing their bare derriere in a mirror.

The posers have submitted their interpretations to a dedicated 'Scarlett Johanssoning' Facebook page.

As well as saucy snaps of near-nude women, there are some very much tongue-in-cheek attempts to recreate the photo.
A Barbie doll, Ernie from Sesame Street, Paddington bear, Donald Duck and even a pug dog have been photographed in similar poses.

A few men have also got in on the action, including one who used Photoshop to superimpose a picture of a woman's bronzed bottom in the reflective surface behind him.
Even the art world has got involved, with US artist Dan Lacey imagining President Obama as Scarlett in a bizarre new painting.

Although it cannot be confirmed if the original picture is indeed of the Lost In Translation star, one of the photos that has been leaked shows a tattoo on the woman's left arm - similar to one Scarlett has been photographed showing before.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that a group of opportunist hackers stole nude photos from up to 50 A-list celebrities, including Scarlett, after breaking into their email accounts.

Without confirming or denying whether the revealing naked snaps are indeed of his client, Scarlett’s lawyer Marty Singer has spoken out, asserting that the actress owns the 'stolen copyright protected private photographs'.

The FBI is currently investigating the hacking attack and is said to be closing in on those responsible for the computer intrusion.

For comparison purposes, below is claimed to be the real Scarlett Johansson.

New Zealander kidnap and prostituted after being duped by Facebook scammers

A New Zealand woman has told how she was kidnapped, beaten and forced into prostitution after being duped by a Facebook invitation to join a martial arts school.

Mary Elizabeth Jones (pic), 39, was held captive in a tiny, filthy room for five and a half months and forced to have sex with up to nine men a day, after being kidnapped in the Philippines.

The martial arts enthusiast's ordeal began when she answered a message from a top martial arts group, inviting her to a month's intense training in the country in October.

"They were meant to be world class and I thought this was a chance for me to learn from the best," said Ms Jones.

But after being picked up from Iloilo City's airport by the purported leader of the group, Ms Jones was robbed of her belongings and thrown into the bug-infested room.

She was visited by up to nine men a day and forced to have sex with them. Each paid 5000 pesos ($140).

"I felt utterly disgusted, and I was treated like a piece of meat," she said. "It was meant to be a trip of a lifetime but it has destroyed my whole life instead."

Ms Jones said her attempts to escape and fight back resulted in severe beatings, which caused her to lose several teeth.

And after months of torment and starvation, which left her too weak to stand, she was dragged from the room and dumped on the streets of Manila.

"I hate myself immensely and feel so dirty. I wish I could have just died in the Philippines rather than go on living like this," said Ms Jones, who is now recovering at a boarding house in Mangere.

Five months after being rescued, she wants to share her story to serve as a warning for others who "may be tempted" by similar invitations.

Ms Jones said the room where she was kept was full of bugs and insects and the food - which came once every two days - often contained "creepy crawlies".

"It was so bad, I doubt even dogs would have eaten it," she said.

"Even now, I still wake up shivering and can still smell the stench of the enclosed room I was kept in ..."

In the five months, she lost around 30kg, dropping from 90kg.

"I don't know whether it was because I grew too weak to continue servicing the men or they had found a replacement, but they just came, dragged me away, and I was dumped on the streets in the city," she said.

Ms Jones was taken in by a women's refuge centre and stayed at the Haven National Centre for Women before receiving help from the US Embassy to return to New Zealand.

The embassy confirmed that it had helped Ms Jones in the Philippines.

Immigration New Zealand's general manager (fraud and compliance), Peter Elms said Ms Jones was holding a British passport and the department helped with her re-entry into the country.

Ms Jones was born in the UK but moved to Auckland as a child and attended Avondale Intermediate and Avondale College.

She moved to the United States and worked in business management and computer technology in Alaska before her trip to the Philippines.

"Our role was to endorse her status as a New Zealand citizen in her British passport which entitles her to remain here indefinitely," Mr Elms said.

The latest Trafficking in Persons Report by the US Department of State lists the Philippines as a source country for human trafficking and a destination and transit destination for men, women and children who are subjected to sex trafficking and forced labour.

"Hundreds of victims are subjected to forced prostitution each day in well-known and highly visible business establishments that cater to both domestic and foreign demand for commercial sex acts," the report said.

"Child sex tourism remained a serious problem ... with sex tourists coming from Northeast Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and New Zealand to engage in the commercial sexual exploitation of children."

Philippines consul-general Emilie Shi said the sex trafficking problem in her country involved mainly "domestic people", and cases involving foreign nationals were "extremely rare".

"As with any society, there will always be a few scumbags who run illegal rings and try to make a profit at the expense of other human beings," Ms Shi said. "To be safe, it is advisable to check with the embassy here beafore going there for holiday or for business, if there are any doubts at all."

China driver refused to pay parking fee and fatally runs over meter maid

A man determined to escape paying a parking fee in downtown Shanghai ran over and killed a meter maid in the latest in a spate of road rage incidents in China.

The uniformed parking attendant was standing in front of the man’s car trying to prevent him from leaving when she was run over, the Xinmin News and other local reports said Thursday. Parking in the area costs 15 yuan (about USD2.35) an hour.

The reports said the man drove into the woman and that she was dragged under the Audi sedan until he stopped a short while later, and that passers by pulled her from beneath the car. She died after she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police, who reportedly took the man into custody, did not respond to phone calls after office hours Thursday.

A search for the vehicle involved in the incident in a police traffic website revealed 22 records, including for speeding and parking and other alleged violations.

Reports of road rage and drunk driving incidents in China have been on the rise, reflecting the boom in auto sales. Many drivers hit the streets with little more than cursory training and show scant regard for traffic lights and other basic rules.

If he can drive an Audi, he can definitely afford to pay for the parking fees. I don't understand why he refused to pay such a small amount. Stingy and heartless?

Driver caught overloading children in a minivan

Take a quick guess, how many children can be accomodated in a minivan meant for 8 people?

Well, the answer is a whopping 64 children! A minivan was stopped by police in China, who discover the driver is hauling 64 children in a minivan built for eight.

Police in Qianan, a city in north China's Hebei Province, say they pulled over the van on suspicion of being overloaded when they discovered the Crayola-packed 4- and 5-year-olds, along with the driver and a teacher. The rear of the minivan had been stripped and wood benches installed to haul children to school with FedEx-like spacial efficiency.

The driver was apparently given only a stiff fine. The police needed 12 vans to ferry all the kids home safely.

Probably the driver has broken the Guiness Book of Records. Hey, we never know! Do watch the video here.

Chinese lovers outsource break-ups

What's the best way for a breakup? Well, in China lovers have found a new way. As no one enjoys the pain of ending a relationship, so perhaps it is no wonder that some pragmatic Chinese are now outsourcing the responsibility to a middleman.

At least 40 agents now advertise their skills in gently breaking up couples on Taobao, China's answer to Ebay.
"Get rid of a difficult partner!" advertises one agent. "Keep damage to a minimum," promises another.
For roughly 300 yuan, the equivalent of around £30, the relationship killers offer everything from a soft let-down by phone or email to an active attempt to drive a wedge between lovers.
For those customers who opt for a "platinum" service, an agent will show up in person, perhaps with a small gift to ease the pain.
One agent, based in Zhejiang province, said he had helped around ten couples end their romance. "We have a 100 per cent success rate, or your money back," he said.

In some cases, he said, he had managed to "apply some small techniques to create misunderstanding, or conflict, between a couple and just let that seed grow slowly and naturally until there was a voluntary break-up on both sides".

He said this was a 20-day package: "We create the conflict in ten days, propose a break-up in 15 and complete the deal in 20." The agent, who asked not to be named, said he had also successfully poisoned relationships on behalf of third parties.

"There was one guy who was in love with a girl, but the girl was going out with someone else. He asked me to break them up," he said.

"I charged him 500 yuan when we pulled it off and he gave me some stock market trading software as a gift. I do not know if he eventually managed to get together with that girl though," he added.

"Some people say I have no morals, but I do not think this is a moral issue. I am not using any dirty tactics and this is just business."

For the broken-hearted, there is consolation elsewhere on the Chinese internet, in the shape of websites such as Kaixin Fenshou Wang, or Happy Break-up, which offer forums for up to 1,000 users at any one time to share their misery.

"Guys are very changeable. They say they love you one moment, then they say they don't anymore. I never quarreled with him, it was always a cold war. Then today comes the happy break-up," wrote one user earlier this summer.

Beauty bath eel swims up man's penis

A beauty treatment ended in the emergency room for a Chinese man who bathed in live eels after one of the slippery creatures swam inside his penis.

Vain Zhang Nan, from Hubei province, central China, had heard that bathing with young eels would make him look younger because they would chew off dead skin.

But the 56-year-old got more than he bargained for when he climbed into the bath with the animals.

"I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis," Mr Zhang said.
"I tried to hold it and take it out, but the eel was too slippery to be held and disappeared."

Mr Zhang was taken to hospital and underwent a three hour operation to remove the eel, which measured about 1.2cm wide and 15cm long, and was dead when doctors found it inside his bladder.

Doctor Jin Wang said the eel's slimy body had worked as a lubricant.

"The diameter of the urethra in a man's genitals is just a little narrower [than the eel], but because eels are quite slippery, its body worked as a lubricant so it got into the penis smoothly," he said.

4 Reasons to Avoid All Soda (Even Diet)

That innocent-looking can of soda pop-no matter what it’s sweetened with-may be taking a toll on your immunity. Here’s why:
1. People who drink sodas instead of healthy beverages (think low-fat milk and pure fruit juice) are less likely to get adequate vitamin A, calcium, and magnesium. What’s more, soda contains phosphoric acid that depletes calcium and magnesium. These two nutrients help keep your immunity operating at peak efficiency.
2. Sodas containing high-fructose corn syrup also contain high levels of free radicals linked to tissue damage, the development of diabetes, and diabetic complications.
3. Plastic soda (and water) bottles contain a toxic chemical called bisphenol A (BPA) that can leach from bottles into soda…into you. Emerging evidence links BPA to a myriad of maladies, including immune system depression. Public health experts recommend that we protect children from exposure to products containing BPA-especially those they consume or use every day.
4. Diet soda actually contributes to weight gain. A study of 1,550 people concluded that people who drink diet soda have a 41 percent increased risk of being overweight or obese-for every can or bottle they drink per day! Turns out, any sweet taste signals body cells to store fat and carbohydrates, which makes you hungrier. Sweet tastes also promote insulin release, which blocks your body’s ability to burn fat. The hard truth: No published study has ever proven that drinking diet soda will help you lose weight.

Father donates skin and suffered in pain for daughter

A farmer whose child was severely burned in a fire had surgery to donate his skin without general anesthesia, as he could not afford the medical fees.

Du Jinhui, 31, volunteered to endure the pain after learning his 5-year-old daughter had suffered burns to 60 percent of her body in a blaze on Aug 16.

"He broke out in a sweat and screamed when I removed the skin," said Shi Longjie, the doctor who operated on Du at Hebei Friendship Hospital in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital.

"Though he was in great pain when his skin was removed, he still asked me to take away more skin if it was good for his daughter," Shi added.

Shi said removing skin under local anesthesia is risky and painful, but Du a migrant worker from Lingshou county in Hebei province, said his decision was "natural" and that any father would do the same for their child.

Du said after the operation that he could not afford to have general anesthesia so he opted to take more than 100 shots of local anesthetic, which cost about 700 yuan ($110) less.

He said another reason for him to choose local anesthesia was that he would not be able to see his daughter in the operating room if he took the general anesthesia.

"The doctor told me I wouldn't be able to move for about six hours if I took the general anesthesia," said Du. "I didn't want to miss my daughter's operation."

News of his bravery has touched many Chinese people and prompted questions about the healthcare available in China for rural residents.

"Where are the social security system and the medical care system when they are supposed to take effect?" said a netizen posting under the name Chenxiaolongv from East China's Shandong province on Sina Weibo, China's largest micro-blogging platform.

"Even if the medical care system has waived part of the fees, some patients still can't afford the rest," said Ding Jianding, director of the Social Security Institute under Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Ding said that under the rural cooperative medical care system a farmer will be reimbursed about 60 percent of any medical costs, which should range between 1,000 yuan and 40,000, depending on local economic conditions.

But even though his daughter was covered by the rural cooperative medical care system, and the hospital exempted part of the cost of treatment, Du was still worried the family would end up with a debt of more than 100,000 yuan because of the medical bills.

Du earns about 10,000 yuan a year. Besides taking care of his two daughters and jobless wife, who was also injured in the fire, he still needs to support his parents, who live with him.

Shi, the doctor who operated on Du, said his patients living in rural areas frequently choose to give up treatment if their conditions are serious, as they cannot afford the treatment.

Ding said the medical care system for serious illnesses in rural areas should be improved to reduce the financial burden of farmers.

"We hope that the current reimbursement percentage of the medical bill, which cannot meet people's needs, will be increased in the future," said Ding.

Thanks to wide media coverage, people have donated at least 30,000 yuan to Du's daughter for her treatment.

But netizens called for more to be done for many other poor rural families who might be in a similar plight.

This man's love for his daughter is so great that I believe he would even die for her. I pray that when his daughter grows up, she will love and treasure him and take care of him when he grows old. That'll be the very least she can do to show her appreciation.

The world's largest crocodile captured in Philippines

It weighs one ton and is believed responsible for eating at least one fisherman, but this monster crocodile has finally been caught by 100 very cautious men.

Measuring 21ft from snout to tail, the massive creature is the largest crocodile captured alive in recent years.

The beast was caught, after a three-week hunt, in a creek in the Philippines by villagers who had lived in fear of it for more than 20 years.

Its nearest rival in the monster stakes is Cassius, an Australian salt-water crocodile which measures a 'mere' 18ft - and which is still on the loose in the Northern Territory.

The Philippine crocodile's domain was a river system in Agusan, a poverty-stricken region 500 miles south east of Manila, but while it was a constant threat to villagers no one was brave enough to try to capture it.

However, when a village fisherman went missing and the crocodile became the chief suspect, plans were hatched to catch it.

It was placed under observation and when it was witnessed by several villagers killing a water buffalo they knew their suspicions were right.

'We were very nervous about tackling this beast but it was our duty to deal with it because it was a threat to many villagers and their farm animals,' said the local mayor, Mr Edwin Elorde.

'When I finally saw it after its capture I couldn't believe my eyes.
'It was big enough to swallow three men all at once.'

The operation to capture the croc - which has yet to be named - was set in place after it was seen in a creek.

Villagers set four net traps, which the crocodile destroyed with a mighty snap of its jaws.
So the second time around the villagers used traps made of steel cables and this time the animal failed to get away.

At least 100 men were required to pull the huge reptile on to the banks of the creek where, after a great deal of difficulty, it was bound up and then lifted by crane on to the back of a truck.

They weren't going to let the victory pass without having their photo taken, so many of the villagers posed beside their scaly captive before it was driven off to a confined area.
Despite the suspected death of the fisherman, the crocodile is destined for fame.

It is expected to be the star attraction at a new eco-tourism park that is being set up in Agusan.

'It will be the biggest star of the park,' said Mr Elorde.
'The villagers, of course, are very happy that they have been able to turn this dangerous crocodile from a threat into an asset.'

But the 37,000 people who live in the region have been told not to rest on their laurels.

To my Filippino readers, you guys must be proud that your country is a home the world's largest crocodile!
